How long does it take to drill 1/2 mile down?
Did not find an answer to that - and it would seem like the best solution. Perhaps engineers are studying the terrain and structure of the caves etc., to determine if it’s an option. Would have to be drilled well away from where the children are holed up, but close enough to reach.
Vertical-or horizontal etc., etc.,
“How long does it take to drill 1/2 mile down?”
The 6” water well I have took 1 1/2 days to go 285 feet down.
I would guess you need a 24” hole to get these boys out...a whole different rig altogether...
“A whole different rig,” the cast of Airplane! repeated.
I don’t tink it’s the drilling down that is the problem—it’s getting them back up-—remember the Chilean mine rescue?-———terrifying.
.
Since a diver made it into the cave, how difficult is it to extract the kids one at a time via the same route the diver came in?
How long does it take to first determine where on the above ground terrain the cave is then how long does it take to get the necessary equipment on site to do the drilling?
From what I've seen, ain't no way that drilling is even a remote possibility.......
God bless them all.
Small hole for essential - two weeks at the most - assuming there is a rig that can do it and it can get to the site.
It depends on whether you piss off the Tommyknockers.
That’s not the problem. WHERE to drill and how to set up a drilling rig on a mountainside is the problem.
The drilling is the easy part. Knowing where to drill is just about impossible.
At least with the miners in Chile they knew exactly where they could drill. Not so with the Thai kids. GPS doesn’t work underground.
