China is putting pressure on the European Union to issue a strong joint statement against President Donald Trump’s trade policies at a summit later this month but is facing resistance, European officials said.

In meetings in Brussels, Berlin and Beijing, senior Chinese officials, including Vice Premier Liu He and the Chinese government’s top diplomat, State Councillor Wang Yi, have proposed an alliance between the two economic powers and offered to open more of the Chinese market in a gesture of goodwill.

One proposal has been for China and the European Union to launch joint action against the United States at the World Trade Organization.

But the European Union, the world’s largest trading bloc, has rejected the idea of allying with Beijing against Washington, five EU officials and diplomats told Reuters, ahead of a Sino-European summit in Beijing on July 16-17.

Instead, the summit is expected to produce a modest communiqué, which affirms the commitment of both sides to the multilateral trading system and promises to set up a working group on modernizing the WTO, EU officials said. …

China has been enjoying a free lunch on the U.S. taxpayer’s dime long enough. Either agree to fair and level trade or take Cosco and all the Chinese goods off the American market.

Oh, really?!

Who needs who, China?

If the USA stopped importing your crap, you would implode.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR.

Just a 100 day stance by half of the US, to avoid Chinese products, would bring massive chaos to China.

If nothing else, you are less likely to be poisoned by lead paint or some other toxic substance on their cheap products.

Why not make this offer to the US?

Maybe the whole tariff thing could go away with that sort of offer.

Nope, no good will is available to the US.

Even if factories can’t be rebuilt in U.S., we could encourage production in countries that oppose Chinese expansion in the Far East. Taiwan, Phillipines, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia. These countries have the population, infrastructure and capacity to replace manufactured goods from China. They are also wary of Chinese hegemony and make natural allies. They would probably order quite a few US military goods.

China is trying to split off the EU from the U.S. Obviously Russia would gain if US pulled out of Europe. Eastern Europe would not like any move towards Russia Chins axis. If EU ignores Eastern Europe, they probably would fold.

Rebuild factories in the US.

Rebuild factories in the US.

Rebuild factories in the US.

Rebuild. Right in America.

STOP EXPORTING US JOBS.

I’m not disagreeing with you, to a point. But far too much of America has lost sight, that a group of people has completely sold out America. What is needed, is to bring jobs right back to the US.

We need to rebuild America.

Not simply move the jobs to another country.

Bring them back to the USA.
