Why the Left will hate Andrew Wheeler at EPA even more than Scott Pruitt
Washington Examiner ^ | 07/05/2018 | Erin Dunne

Posted on 07/06/2018 3:42:47 PM PDT by MaxistheBest

Scott Pruitt was the perfect villain: On top of pursuing Presdient Trump’s deregulatory plan for the Environmental Protection Agency, including pulling out from the Paris climate accords, he had a laundry list of ethical and possibly legal violations that put him at the heart of a at least 13 federal investigations. He was easy to criticize, didn’t seem to know his way around Washington, and constantly found himself in the spotlight for undeniably questionable activity. Moreover, his haste and lack of regulatory know-how led to six of his initiatives being struck down by the courts.

Now Pruitt is out and Andrew Wheeler, his (at least) temporary replacement, will be a more difficult target for the Left, and they will hate him even more.

This new, more formidable foe has a long history as a Washington insider and is well versed in doing things by the book. After more than 20 years in Washington, including time at the EPA under President George H.W. Bush and as a coal company lobbyist, Wheeler has a reputation for denying humans as the cause of climate change and as an ally of the fossil fuel industry — which even earned him the Onion headline: “EPA Promotes Pulsating Black Sludge to Deputy Director.” Wheeler appeared to take it all in stride, however, which will likely just infuriate the Left even more.

Like Pruitt, Wheeler will continue to pursue Trump’s deregulatory agenda and will be no friend to environmentalists. Indeed, he has built his experience challenging federal environmental regulations and was the former chief of staff to Oklahoma Sen. James Inhofe, a prominent Republican skeptic of mainstream scientific worries about man-made climate change.

Wheeler, with his vast experience and ability to stay out of the spotlight will likely be even more effective at pursuing Trump’s policies — which is sure to draw more scorn from the Left but generate far less attention.

It’s worse when they don’t have to, though.

And personally, I want my public servants to show respect to the tax dollars extorted from us. That means no damned fancy offices and private or even first class flights.

Put everyone lower than Pence in a cubicle, give ‘em the smallest Ford, no driver, and tell ‘em “it’s coach or you walk” when to comes to flying.

no government official should live better than the average veteran or SSI recipient.

...Hope Wheeler packs heat, knows how to use it, drives a Humvee (up armored with run flat tires), and lives in a gated community...

Don't kid yourself - Pruitt did provide some ammo, but they will still go after Wheeler hammer-and-tong because they now have a scalp. They won't stop, now.

The Left cries about Wheeler’s lobbying....
“Murray Energy was Wheeler’s best-paying client, paying more than $300,000 during the period 2009-2017.”

Pretty cheap if you ask me.

““””””The allegations against Pruitt were not fabricated”””””

Is an allegation a fact or a guess?”

Bingo. Pruitt was hounded out by leftists over trivia while under Obama’s regime they “tolerated” a thousand times more graft and corruption by their own kind. The commie socialists practice the fine art of Saul Alinsky, any means to an end to achieve their goals. And they succeeded against Pruitt, although it is definitely a pyrrhic victory, as now the EPA is led by Wheeler who will be 10 times worse to enviroweenie causes than Pruitt was. To their great future chagrin I’m sure.

The left had a dirty trick with Obama’s EPA. Some wacko eco group would sue the government, and Obama’s EPA would *not* contest it at trial, then say they had no choice but to add that wacko demand to their regulations, “because the courts say so.”

So this needs to be turned on its head. Conservative orgs need to *sue* the EPA over their stupider regulations, with the idea that President Trump’s EPA *not* contest it in court, and thus END onerous regulation after regulation.

If Wheeler is willing to play ball, any and every conservative that had been abused by the EPA could fight back.

Re: “If we could bump CO2 up into whole percentage points, oxygen would also follow it.”

So, if we did add a few percentage points of oxygen and CO2, would the atmosphere increase in mass, which, I assume, would increase air pressure?

Or, would the atmosphere increase in volume, shed nitrogen into space, and hold steady at 14.7 psi?

No, Pruitt really was clueless on that count.

This guy knows the score.

Early on they thought if they got a scalp Trump would send in one of their guys as a replacement. (E.g., Flynn to McMaster). But of late Trump has become more confident and nimble (e.g., McMaster to Bolton—bwahaha!) and so that’s not much happening any more.
