The only question that matters is, “Are the People sovereign, and do they have the right to make laws which govern their lives in their several states? Yes or no?”

Republicans Look to Compromise The Supreme Court, Avoid Controversy in Election Year

Most Republicans only know how to follow, not lead. They are in it for the perks not the responsibility. Champagne, Brie and fat retirement accounts are their dreams of success.

In the seven Supreme Court terms completed since the fall of 2005, the 6th Circuit has been reversed 31 out of 38 times, for an 81.6 percent reversal rate, based on figures compiled by two Philadelphia lawyers. That leads all the federal circuits for that time period, with the 9th Circuit coming in as the second most reversed—100 out of 128 cases, or 78.1 percent.

Those stats do not necessarily indicate that the 6th Circuit is reversed more than the 9th. To really analyze that, one would need to know the total cases heard by each circuit, the total number appealed to SCOTUS, the number SCOTUS agreed to hear, and then the number reversed.

The best indicator would be cases appealed and reversed by SCOTUS compared to total cases heard in each circuit.

And I certainly hope Kethledge is not the nominee.

I wish all these pundits would hush up and let President Trump make up his own mind.

He is surrounded by advisers who have spent hundreds of hours interviewing each candidate, and doing a hard, hard check of their qualifications. I think it’s safe to say those advising President Trump know more about the candidates than all the pundits put together.

Shutup and get outta the way!

Parker was a Republican judge (former Missouri Congressman), but in heavily Democrat Arkansas.

complete f’king bullshite.

first, “Republicans” have little say so about who Trump decides to nominate.

secondly, Trump said two days ago that,

“In choosing Justice Kennedy’s replacement, my greatest responsibility is to select a Justice who will faithfully interpret the Constitution as written. Judges are not supposed to re-write the law, re-invent the Constitution, or substitute their own opinions for the will of the people expressed through their laws. We reject judicial activism and policy-making from the bench. The faithful application of the Constitution is the bedrock of our freedom, the foundation of our society, and the linchpin of our government. The American System tasks Congress with writing the laws, the executive with enforcing the laws, and the judiciary with issuing neutral judgments based upon those laws and the Constitution we have sworn to protect.

In choosing a new Justice, I will select someone with impeccable credentials, great intellect, unbiased judgment, and deep reverence for the laws and Constitution of the United States.”

I completely fail to see the “compromise” in that ...

Horrors. A judge read and followed the law.

It seems that some FReepers want a SCOTUS nominee who will torture the law and Constitution to achieve their desired outcomes - same sleazy tactics as liberal judges, just different outcomes.

Now, in an effort to show compromise, the RINO's have decided to follow Hillary Clinton's advice and nominate former President Obama to the Supreme Court.
