LGBTQ advocates in Kansas City are planning protest Vice President Pence's visit to the city this week.
The alternative rock station KRBZ tweeted Monday that it would throw “The Mike Pence Sausage Fest” across the street from where the vice president is expected to deliver remarks on Wednesday.
“Mike Pence is coming to Kansas City this Wednesday,” the station tweeted.
“Pence is no fan of the LGBTQ+ community, and we’re no fan of his. So we’re throwing The Mike Pence Sausage Fest across the street at Barney Allis Plaza starting at 11a. Stop by and get a free hot dog while we have them!” the tweet continued.
Pence, who has long been faced pushback from the LGBTQ community for policies and legislation he has backed, is scheduled to give remarks promoting President Trump’s tax cuts bill and raise money for Rep. Kevin Yoder (R-Kan.), according to The Kansas City Star.
Pence is scheduled to give his remarks at the Wheeler Downtown Airport.
In June, LGBTQ activists took to the streets with a similar event outside Pence’s hotel in Columbus, Ohio, to protest the vice president's visit to that city with a "Big Gay Dance Party.”
Hundreds of protesters and LGBTQ activists also gathered outside Pence’s Washington, D.C., home in January 2017 to protest the then-vice president-elect with a dance party.
As governor of Indiana, Pence signed the 2015 Religious Freedom Restoration Act, which drew sharp criticism from members of the LGBT community and activists who said the law could encourage discrimination against the group.
I’d bet they don’t know of any actions or results of the Trump administration which have hurt the LGBT*$!% community. Maybe they’ll bring up the military ban on Ts but I don’t think even that has been fully implemented.
They are protesting “differences of opinion”, not implementation of those differences.
They expect their politicians to implement opinion (who cares about constitutionality) and can’t imagine that a conservative politician doesn’t do the same. So they imagine all sorts of horrible things comparable to what they would want a Dem politician to do to those they disagree with.

I’m a little confused about the article. My son works for FINRA in the 12 Wyandotte Building, which is across the street from Barney Allis Plaza. If Vice President Pence is speaking at the Wheeler Downtown Airport, isn’t that a couple of miles away from the Plaza?
He's flying into the Wheeler Downtown Airport, which is across the river from downtown, but he's speaking at the Marriott, which is on the north side of Barney Allis. I don't know where the Yoder fundraiser is - Yoder doesn't advertise his events - but I'm sure it's in Johnson County somewhere.
