Creepy, no other way to describe it in my mind. This actually started in post civil war America when families did this with dead members but actually posed live family members with the dead some times, just like some sort of family reunion. Pictures available on the internet.

I have thought about getting placed on my side with my hands up near my face so it will really look like I and sleeping.

They did this on Kolchak: The Night Stalker where one criminal had the dead around a dinner table.
This is creepy. They had some of the pictures on Yahoo. Just weird.

Mostly an “AMISH” thing I see.

It’s the ultimate creep-out. And, quite disrespectful to boot.
They pose these individuals based on a premise they hate in real life...stereotyping. They stereotype what the deceased loved to do in life, for what s/he was known for, and posts them that way for burial.
I remember seeing one guy astride a Harley-Davidson, and wondered, “Did they bury the Harley with him, or was it just for show.”.
Symbolism over substance.

Murkan funeral customs are weirder than what the Egyptians practiced.

I want “Pop Goes The Weasel” played at my funeral, with everyone looking at the coffin.
