You are missing my point! Trump is not a conservative, in the traditional sense. He is not advocating limiting government, traditional values, etc. But he is shaking up D.C. So I think deep down Rush has something that is gnawing at him.

His staff just told him he had a call he would want to take immediately. They didn’t tell him it was Trump. He was surprised, that’s why he laughed.

Heard it. You know folks, you will look back on these times and realize how lucky you were.
I look back on the Reagan years and know how lucky I was to live during his terms in office.
Now we have another man who loves this nation.
Rush does too.
We are richly blessed to have them both.

I remember at my very first Trump rally in Phoenix in 2016, even before the primaries, I saw a supporter wearing a Reagan shirt. I pointed at the picture of Reagan and said to him, "you know there will never be another Reagan in our lifetimes, or ever". He nodded in agreement. Little did I know that the man who was going to excel Reagan was going to appear before us very shortly.
With Rush behind the Golden EIB and Trump at the Resolute Desk, America is in good hands.

Rush knows that Trump is not an ideologue nor an intellectual, nor a flowery speaker.
With Trump what you get is Trump and his own gut sense of right and wrong, which happens to be the traditional common sense, pragmatic American values, which happen to align aligns quite well with conservatism.
The other thing that Trump is, is a fighter, a brawling counter puncher and Rush loves that aspect of him even more. I do too.
Newt Gingrich's point precisely (at a forum several weeks ago). Rather, he says Trump is an "anti-liberal," because he sees the left's policies don't work.

A hell of a lot listen to him. I do every day. He knows what’s really going on behind the curtains and can explain it so even the dumbest person on earth can understand.

Trump rewards those who support him.
When Trump first announced, Rush was GIDDY. He was beside himself with GLEE.
Almost immediately, he did a 180. Why? He found a horse head in his bed and a dead fish on his doorstep.
He got the John Roberts Obamacare phone call.
Rush straddled the fence like a bowling ball on the edge of a razor blade.
In the end, I guess he pulled it off. Keeping his powerful puppet masters happy without totally alienating Trump.
Maybe someday Rush will write a “tell all” book.
