Let’s price each soybean individually.

Why can’t China grow her own soybeans?

There are some farmers where my GF lives that plant a few rows of soybeans around their corn to give the deer something else to eat besides the corn.

Only 14% of China is arable land. Plus, there's a lot of heavy metal contamination in the soil

I know this sounds dumb but for protection of our beans it works.

Buy some of those small green fence posts and string some monofilament line between them about 3’ or so off the ground. You can space the posts at a fairly good distance. I use 50 # test fishing line but that is what I had.

When the deer approach, they feel the line but can’t see it and back off.

That was obvious from the start. The concern trolls out there pretending there was going to be some kind of economic collapse in the US or whatnot, remind me of the stupid a-holes who think that buying oil from one country instead of another has no impact on the worldwide price. Thanks xzins.

They are big enough to do just that.

The State of North Dakota is big enough to own a State Mill and Elevator and a Bank to play the same game on a smaller scale.

Slap the tariff on soybeans, drive futures prices down as a result, buy up contracts for delivery at depressed prices, get your soybeans at the lower price. Pretty smart of the Chinese.

Not a single thing in your comment is happening in real life.

“drive futures prices down as a result”

Reality for the producer: Today’s closing offering at the elevator in Plymouth, Nebraska was $8.15, down about 14% from the closing ($9.52) on 1 April 2018. July 17 was $7.60.

Don’t have any information about the futures.

It’s one big marketplace. If you rob peter, you’ll end up having to pay paul.

Soybeans haven’t changed much in price for a decade. Since there’s been inflation, that means the price has gone down. They went up during hard drought years about 2013, but they’ve been about 9 and a quarter for a long time.

After China got their big deal with the mega AG companies, it encouraged over-supply, in my opinion. Good for big AG, good for China, not so good for farmers.

Good evening.

It’s kind of amazing. For such a large country they lack farmland, oil and coal.

Just sayin

The neighbor rents the arable on this place, it's all soybean. His rotation is pretty much soybeans and corn, he doesn't have livestock (not for years, like most farmers around here, he's pretty freakin' old). The Chinese also eat a lot of pork, and are retaliating against US raised pork -- but they can't raise enough pork to satisfy their own market, and use soy to boost feed. Our POTUS hit them right where he knew they'd crack.
