Former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton fondly remembered the late Sen. John McCain Sunday, praising the Arizona Republican as a fiercely hard worker who did his best to bridge the gap between those with differing opinions for the sake of his beloved country.
“He leaves a legacy of service and courage. The courage, of course, we all came to know because of his time as a prisoner of war, but getting up every day and working as hard as he did for the people of Arizona, for the values that he cherished, wasn’t easy,” Clinton said during a phone interview on “Meet the Press.”

Clinton said McCain’s persistence was due to the fact that believed in the institution, and knew the senate could not be successful without cooperation from everyone.
