Rigging search terms sounds like an impermissible in-kind campaign contribution, to me.
I agree and I disagree with Trump on this.
I agree on the analysis of what Google is doing. However, I have to respect the right for a private company to have their own rules of how they conduct their business - that’s the Liberty we as Conservatives have to give more then mere lip service to, or we are hypocrites.
Unless we are prepared to “nationalize” the likes of Google in someway, and make it somehow captive of government policy - a very non-conservative measure, I am not sure what we can do in any harsh way that would not betray our own convictions about small and limited government.
I think Trump’s tweet is the sort of thing we can do most - exposure of Goodle’s bias, and we have to use every ounce of our our own social force to keep pointing that out.
“The last thing a conservative should be doing is advocating for more government control of private business. ANY private business.”
Great. Does that include the Chinese government’s control of Google and Apple?
Yes it does.
“On the other hand, in a market economy, if AT&T or Microsoft out-competes everyone and dominates, I tend not to see it as a monopoly
Yes, but when they start showing indications that they intend to use their deep pockets to influence politicians and stifle competition through regulations and legislation, it’s time to break them up. They almost always emerge into that “true monopoly” you stated.
They should break these monopolies up the way they did ma Bell. People cried then that Bell was a private company that had built all the infrastructure. Why should other companies get to use Bell’s cables etc.
Well, if the govt hadn’t forced the breakup we’d still be thinking a florescent colored princess phone was a hot trendy item.
I have a hushmail account I barely use.
With Google getting like it is, I will start using hushmail more.
American Propaganda (AP) is the central source of stories most of the globalist media ‘glean’ for ‘news’. Hit them with an injunction and lawsuit for monopolizing and politicizing the news to break them up.
Since it seems the DNC is writing today’s news, why isn’t there an effort by the RNC to do the same? If the WH has been sending press releases to the AP that were never presented to AP’s clients, then that ‘collusion’ word applies, but so might a real law that has teeth.
I use Google frequently, even for sports news, its an endless parade of left wing organizations. Page 1 Page 2. I have to really sift thru to find an acceptable source
Now wheres all the follow up stories on David HOGG, Er, KATZ?
> Id also check their prospectus to see if they are being truthful and transparent to their potential investors.
That’s the key here. There is no way “we plan to implement a Stalinist thought control regime through mass censorship” appeared in any of their filings or representations.
Material damage has already been done and will continue... seems to me mass investor suits are inevitable.
One can argue that Google is harming consumers by censoring content and interfering in the election.
Don’t forget when they broke up Micro$oft a couple of decades ago... (talking about the IE thing)
It is cronyism pure and simple. Actually out of control in this world due to the Globalist Cronies. Google is presenting its product as unbiased, yet it is favoring its friendly liberal customers. If Google advertised itself as anti Trump or as a liberal left leaning search engine, it would not be in violation of false labeling laws for starters. Conservatives need to file a class action law suit and split these behemoths at their mouths.
Interesting point.
I’ve found that Yahoo gives better search results than Google for anything to do with politics or government or media, if you can believe it.
