Support for President Donald Trump does not appear to have dwindled in the aftermath of his former lawyer Michael Cohen pleading guilty to campaign finance violations, with a new poll showing the president has maintained his approval rating.
A Harvard CAPS/Harris poll provided to The Hill shows the president with a 46 percent approval rating, one point up from the same survey taken last month that showed Trump with a 45 percent approval rating.
"Trump continues to strengthen his job approval as the economy strengthens," Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll co-director Mark Penn told The Hill of the survey, which was conducted August 22 to August 23, in the days following Cohens admission that he paid off women who claimed they had affairs with Trump under Trump's directiona move that appeared to implicate the president.
And Cohens admission comes alongside former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort being found guilty of eight counts of financial crimes by a Virginia court, and ahead of his trial in a federal court next month over money laundering.
But the issues surrounding Cohen and Manafort do not appear to have touched the president as yetor at least not according to this most recent poll, which surveyed 1,330 registered voters.

COHEN CLAIMS = Lanny Davis lies.
I’ll say it again. Lots of folks are going to be real sympathetic to a person who got *crewed by a lawyer and/or by the system.
“But the issues surrounding Cohen and Manafort do not appear to have touched the president AS YET...”
What part of, “Make up all the FAKE NEWS you want on Our President and it’s not going to matter to, ‘We The People’ one tiny bit” don’t they understand?
*Rolleyes*
Not surprising at all.
Reminds me of the Clinton years. I could never believe that he remained popular despite all his issues.
It’s so much sweeter seeing it from the other side.
Liberals are so much more unbalanced that it’s even more enjoyable seeing them freak out.
Maybe it really is the economy, stupid.
How long will it be before the MSM realizes that they ONLY have the ability to strengthen the President’s support? All of their efforts at a take-down just backfire. He is stronger today because the Fake News is so relentless.
The media has exhausted any chance of being believed about anything. I don’t even listen to weather reports any more.
well, dern, that’s not gonna help the blue wave.
Certainly explains F. Chuck Todd’s little freak-out on Sunday.
I think that one of the reasons that Trump’s approval rating is going up among black people is that they sympathize with a man who is being chased by crooked cops.
If there is a surprise...it’s that every single ‘silver-bullet’ that the news media has had since January of 2016...has failed. CNN has destroyed their profit structure. The NY Times and WaPo are mostly laughed over. No one cares to really watch interviews much off CBS or NBC anymore. The NPR crowd has a fairly marginal group listening.
Then you toss on the fake Republicans and their chatter.
Trump is like turbo-powered Bactine....you spray a little, and the hurt goes away. Even that Stormy-half-wit-gal? That went almost nowhere.
In the minds of these clowns it is forever 1974 and it’s always Watergate.
LOL, maybe Trump is America’s “Third Black President”.
They’ve been attacking Trump and everyone associated with Trump, including his voters, 24/7/365 for the last 2 years, and he keeps chugging along. Yesterday, there came the announcement of a big trade deal with Mexico, much better than NAFTA, yet the media is still obsessed with Cohen, Manafort, Impeachment, all the things that only they care about. Running on pure old Trump hatred isn’t a winning strategy.
Because people can tell a piece of crap lawyer when they see one.
Mainstream media reports are always like Swiss cheese full of holes.
The media does not at all understand the message they are promoting.
“Your President is such a complete stud, he pays super hot models six figures to not publicly claim they slept with him. Do you approve? (Y/N)”
and nobody believes there should be a special counsel investigating our president - because it’s obviously bogus
