Guess Who Just Paid For The Wall? Mexico!
Townhall.com ^ | August 30, 2018 | Wayne Allyn Root

Posted on 08/30/2018 8:55:25 AM PDT by Kaslin

Guess what? President Trump just won- again. Trump just made the impossible, possible- again. Trump just made Mexico pay for the wall. More on that in a moment.

But first, I must report on “the biggest loser.” That would be New York Governor Andrew Cuomo. He reported “America was never great.”

Well I’m here to report that America is the greatest country in world history. And I know why. Because we’re blessed by God. I know it’s not politically correct to say that. But like President Trump, I only report the raw truth.

It’s so sad that liberals don’t believe, or understand the greatness of America. Because great things come to those who believe. I’m a SOB- son of a butcher. Guess who just joined my hit national television show? Bill O’Reilly.

Bill was the unchallenged “King of Cable TV News” for a remarkable 16 consecutive years. Now Bill O’Reilly has decided to make his comeback on my “Wayne Allyn Root Show” on Newsmax TV. What an honor. There is no other country in the world where this could happen to a butcher’s kid.

Only in America.

But that’s not my only honor to report. This butcher’s son has also been chosen by the publishing division of Newsmax TV to write the book about the one-in-a-billion business and political success of President Donald Trump. The last four books published by Newsmax have all been New York Times bestsellers. My book “The Trump Rules” is the next in line.

Only in America.

Now to the latest great news about President Trump. I was the only newspaper columnist in America who predicted that Trump’s approval ratings would go up in the face of guilty verdicts and pleas by his associates Paul Manifort and Michael Cohen. Sure enough, as if on cue, the new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll is out. Trump is at or near his all-time record high.

But that’s not the only thing hitting record highs.

*Consumer confidence is now the highest in 18 years- since October of 2000.

*Corporate profits are hitting records. The stock market was up over 250 points on Monday. Most every stock index hit record highs.

*The Atlanta Fed now predicts booming 4.6% economic growth in the 3rd quarter. That's after Wednesday's upward revision of 2nd quarter GDP to 4.2%.

*And at global online gaming sites, more people are betting on Trump’s re-election victory than all his opponents combined.

That was all before President Trump announced a United States-Mexico trade agreement. Because Trump talked tough and never gave in, US workers will benefit. US carmakers will benefit. US manufacturers will benefit. US taxpayers will benefit. Trump did it. He won. We all won. Trump announced he will terminate NAFTA.

While we don’t know all the details yet, I guarantee this new trade deal will save us tens of billions, perhaps hundreds of billions of dollars over the next decade. Since the wall with Mexico costs about $25 billion, Trump just forced Mexico (whether they know it or not) to pay for the wall. Once again, Trump accomplished what establishment politicians of both parties said could never be done.

But with Donald J. Trump there are no such words as “never” or “impossible.”Trump has chutzpah. Trump has cajones. Trump aims for the moon. Trump is combative and aggressive. Trump is driven to do what others say cannot be done. Trump is an eternal optimist. He accepts nothing less than #WINNING. I call those traits “The Trump Rules.” He proves they work every day!

You can bet he’s gotten Mexico to pay for the wall- his No. 1 promise of the election. You can bet we will now begin building the wall. Just as I knew his popularity would go up after the terrible week of guilty pleas and nonstop media assaults last week.

Writing a book on the remarkable, one-in-a-billion “Trump Rules of Success” is easy. The book just keeps writing itself. Every week comes a new victory none of Trump’s critics ever believed possible. Trump just keeps writing the book for me!

Thank you, Mr. President. You really are THE GREATEST!

No, our politicians never wanted to change anything about it in the first place. They just paid lip service to placate their supporters.

geez, can we please get some margins on FR?

*********

Which ones would you like. Name your preferences

1.
the edge or border of something.
“the eastern margin of the Indian Ocean”
synonyms: edge, side, verge, border, perimeter,
brink, brim, rim, fringe, boundary, limits,
periphery, bound, extremity; literarybourn, skirt
“the margin of the lake”

the blank border on each side of the print on a page.
synonyms: leeway, latitude, scope, room, room to maneuver,
space, allowance, extra, surplus “there’s no margin for error”

a line ruled on paper to mark off a margin.

2.
an amount by which a thing is won or falls short.
“they won by a convincing 17-point margin”
synonyms: gap, majority, amount, difference
“they won by a narrow margin”

Cops would feel safer about being a cop and relieve all that subliminal pressure that triggers (pun intended) wrong LEO behavior.

It'll take a few generations for their "us vs them" mentality to go away.

People who really want their posts to be legible can
consider using -blockquote- (as I routinely do . . .).

And previewing and correcting before posting.

Less-than-desirable parts of the population, indoctrination through their schooling and probably academy, and prior militarization.

I don’t think people even realize how much money they’re forking over for these people and their offspring.

I have the requisite information, but when I activated my terabyte computer for the calculation it said it ran out of memory.

The wall has been paid for before. Paying and building two entirely different things.

Free Republic is just fine the way it is.

I use paragraph and italic commands, and preview.

I still goof up, but rarely.

The only time it bothers me is when an article is posted in it’s entirety. Pages should only be so wide, otherwise going back to the left to read the next line, it’s hard to find that line. This is just common formatting stuff that people have known about for decades/centuries. 99.8% of all websites have a max-width and margin. On the other end, we have sites like American Thinker which is too narrow and not centered.
That and
people who
post from
their phones.

FR was designed in and still conforms to 1990 html. Things have changed a wee bit but it’s probably hard to add a margin now as it would most likely screw with people using smaller devices. Need css for that.

Tax the wire remittances at 25 percent and mandate E-Verify
and send them home. Also, cut off benefits like welfare food stamps, in state tuition, free K-12 schooling for illegals a big proplem in Nevada where just in Clark county over 100,000 illegal children are educated for about $15k each.

No, Congress doesn’t—by the undemocratic rules of NAFTA they can update and even rename the agreement only by giving Congress advance notice—not requiring its blessing.

I BTW don’t like that, as along with not liking unfair trade deals, I don’t like trade deals that limit the constitutional role of Congress—and thus of the people.

What I meant, was that even if the US trade balance with Mexico improves dramatically, and our budget deficit decreases, we still need Congress to authorize money for the wall.

I wasn’t referring to the agreement in that sentence.

Honestly trying to help ...

If its your cell phone acting up get Opera - it allows you to enlarge/diminish ANY screen while maintaining full margins - there’s a setting for that - you’ll find it.

FireFox offers a screen +/- feature (Ctrl+/Ctrl-) that is helpful and for large images just “View Image” and adjust as necessary.

If its the opinions here you view as marginalist then you’re simply wrong. ;-)

Obviously I’m not explaining it well. I don’t use a phone. My laptop is a fairly new Wide Screen and right now is pretty much the most popular resolution.

To visualize, think of a legal sheet of paper. 8 1/2” x 14”
Think of it printed landscape mode - printed so the sheet is held with the 14” horizontal when reading it.

My screen is 13” and 1920px wide. Multiple lines running edge to edge are hard to read because each line is so long. By the time the eyes get back to the left side, one has to scan more to find the correct spot to continue reading.

Yes I could make my browser window smaller but this is about the only site that uses no margins and just about every other site, is better viewed with my browser window maximized.

Pertinent quotes from the info below.

“However, as computer screens got bigger this became an issue for the readability and aesthetics of text.”

“Just as it’s important in print to let go of typewriter habits, it’s important on the web to let go of the 1994 habits.

To preserve text legibility, web pages need big margins too.”

https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/margin
1 : the part of a page or sheet outside the main body of printed or written matter

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margin_(typography)#The_Digital_Page
In the early days of the Internet, the concept of margins was foreign to web browsers.[24] However, as computer screens got bigger this became an issue for the readability and aesthetics of text.[25] The invention of more sophisticated techniques such as CSS allowed designers to control the margins of their web pages and leave more white space.[26] Although margin-less web pages do still exist, today it is generally understood that having wide enough margins to provide adequate white space around text is important to the usability and readability of digital text.[27][28][29] In fact, margins become even more important because web content shares visual space with other elements such as the web browser’s interface, as well as other icons and windows.[30]

Margins also play an important role in digital word-processing. The default margins for Microsoft Word from version 2007 onward have been 1 inch (2.54 cm) all around; in Word 2003, the default top and bottom margins were 1 inch (2.54 cm), but 1.25 inches (3.17 cm) were given at the left and the right.[31][32] OpenOffice Writer has 0.79 inch (2 cm) all around.[33] LaTeX varies the width of its margins depending on the font size. By default, LaTeX uses 1.5 inches margin sizes for 12pt documents, 1.75 inches for 11pt, and 1.875 inches for 10pt—relatively large margins. These adjustments are intended to allow a maximum of 66 characters per line, to increase readability.[34][35] However, studies have shown that longer line lengths (more than 66 characters per line) can improve readability.[36][37]

https://practicaltypography.com/page-margins.html
Originally, web browsers had no concept of margins—text simply flowed from one edge of the window to the other. That wasn’t a huge problem, since computer screens were much smaller. With the advent of CSS, web designers could use the margin and padding properties to create space between text and the edge of its containing block.

Nevertheless, the web has never shaken the edge-to-edge design idiom. Many of today’s websites still look like they were created by designers who got paid by the square inch. Just as it’s important in print to let go of typewriter habits, it’s important on the web to let go of the 1994 habits.

To preserve text legibility, web pages need big margins too. There isn’t one margin size that will work for all web pages, but the core advice is the same as on the printed page—focus on line length.

So basically, this site is stuck in the early 1990s which is like 100 years in tech time. Margins are like the most basic element in the print industry and web pages are print.

I do a little web design which is probably why this bothers me. I also know enough about web programming and have looked at the final page output to take a guess that it would require a major rewrite of the code. The final html is a table based layout which is pretty much obsolete. Personally, I think it would be worth it.

1) Better and responsive layout that looks good on any screen
2) Not having to type in our own html code for our individual posts

Personally, I think those two things would bring in members, some of which will donate. Make more money and help spread the conservative view. It’s a win win.
