Oh garsh and shucks.
MUMBLE MUMBLE BLUSH BLUSH)
There is a treasure trove of great songwriting that will be remembered long after rap and hip-hop are consigned to the ash heap of history.
I'll be here for another 90 minutes before I run off to see a film on HBO.

I’ll be here for about the same length of time!
staying too long in one position gets to my back after awhile.(I do get up and stretch after a bit, though!)

THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK
HARRY WARREN
BY THE RIVER SAINTE MARIE
Long before he became one of the best lyricists of the Great American Songbook, Johnny was known as a vocalist and a bandleader. This is from 1946.

This is a beautiful song about comforting a friend with suicidal thoughts.
Then he sings about the clues he might have missed.
A beautiful, haunting song.

That's an impressive tune. The deletion at "I do" is very effective with that cadence where you don't expect it. It's good musical craft.

The element of surprise is important to a successful composer, and the shortening of a bar (deletion) is one of those tools in the toolbox. Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms knew how to use it, as did Gershwin and McCartney. It took Schubert some time to figure it out, but in his last five years he finally got it.
