Nashville is 25 percent black in the city...which is low in the south...and if they move in the trouble comes with them and eventually you’re just left with trouble

My grandmothers neighborhood in Jackson Mississippi did this

First folks were a black detective and his wife....lovely people ...he bailed me out one night for having s weapon on my seat....M39 smith....this was long ago kids

But within 7-8 years he left and so did mama.....

All hood rats had come in....so decent folks moved to the counties

Here in Nashville Friday’s on Ellison place used to be a hangout for folks

Then you notice it’s getting darker and darker and then it’s a hood joint and shuts down

Cheesecake Factories have this problem....popular with blacks

Too much of the black community are ill behaved

I love you, WD, but I disagree with you. I think decivilization is purely learned behavior.

Larry Elder had a short list of about 3 items for how to avoid poverty, guaranteed: stay in school and get decent grades; get a decent job before getting married; get married before having a child. It’s pretty foolproof but you have to do it no matter what mom and dad did. No matter what your sister / brother ‘ cousins are doing.

I had a friend who grew up in south central and he became a doctor. He was a smallish shy kid and he spent his teen years hiding from BOTH the bloods and the Crips. Not easy to do.

The broken window theory works for morals like it does for neighborhoods. Resisting an environment is very difficult, for you, for me, for everyone.

I had another friend, who when newly married with baby number one on the way, moved into a brand new community toward the desert in SoCal. Tiny little perfect family homes, sold for a song, so lots of Angelenos moved out there and started their real, happy, middle class family lives. When I visited, I saw moms chatting on the sidewalk, kids running to play from house to house. Leave it to Beaver, basically. Mostly white, Asian, Hispanic.

Then L.A. designated it as Section whatever housing for people from deep in the city. People were being GIVEN these cute little manicured homes. Yes, most of these people were black from the inner city. Suddenly, crime went up, lawns were not watered or mowed, schools had social issues and soon after, real crime issues. My friends were paying decent amounts on what was now a worthless house. So they took their stuff, left the keys in the door, and walked away. The place is basically a disgusting gang haven now.

It wasn’t the skin color. It was the utter lack of responsibility, the subcultural disdain for moral living, and the inability to resist criminal elements around them. I think it is a mistake to blame some inherited difference over a severe lack of civilization passed down from parent to child, from family to neighboring family.

In my religion we do have a command to not do what might SEEM bad in front of others (give a false impression) so that it not lead them astray. Example from Judaism: it’s a holy day and the rabbi is walking to synagogue. He suddenly has a desperate need to pee, and he is walking past Hank’s Hog BBQ. If the rabbi goes in there on the Sabbath and someone else sees, they will think, hey, if the rabbi eats there... Same thing. If the neighbor sells a little crack to get those extra possessions... if my sister is with a gang and she seems ok...

Stupidest fad I saw was in Lima, OH in 1982. Black guys walking around with clear shower caps on, gettin’ their hair moisturizer going... Up

Heh - we had a black guy with the shower cap come in as a temp worker - 1984 or so - Denver. I got picked to work with him. I thought “oh great”. He told me the cap was because he just got a perm I think. Aside from the goofy cap he turned out to be a really nice guy.
