UMATILLA — In the Umatilla County courthouse, the question, "Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?" may be answered in a number of different languages. Across Oregon, requests for indigenous languages have spiked in the last year. As languages like Mam, Q'anjob'al and K'iche' become more common, so do requests for courtroom interpreters that speak them.

So now immigrants, likely illegal, are "native" to Oregon.

Glad I never moved to Oregon or WA...In CA, they’re already costing the tax payers many millions. They turned it into a tower of babble and they’ll do the same to every state if they’re able to get away with it.

There are millions of people in Mexico who speak no Spanish or they can barely speak Spanish. There are about 5 different indigenous languages in Mexico. The languages are only spoken, not written. Now that is our problem.

Why would I joke? America is not just the US. North America, Central America, South America. Ask any Canadian. They are Americans, too.
We think that US citizens are the only Americans, but we don’t own the name.

We are The United States of America. I have never Mexicans, Central, South Americans or Canadians EVER refer to themselves as “”Americans’’. And I have a Canadian born daughter in law and have known and worked with dozens of said mentioned peoples south of our border over many years.
