Why it could be Brett Kavanaugh or bust for Republicans
Washington Examiner ^ | OCTOBER 1, 2018 | Philip Klein

Posted on 10/02/2018 1:18:35 AM PDT by familyop

There seems to be a high degree of confidence among liberals that if Brett Kavanaugh goes down, President Trump will simply appoint another conservative, who Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would simply push through before the new Congress is sworn in — even if Republicans end up losing control of the Senate.

This assumption has always, to me, been highly overstated, so it didn't surprise me to see this report from Jonathan Swan of Axios saying that Trump has no plan B to swap in another nominee if Kavanaugh goes down. "There's no time before the [midterm] election to put up a new person," a White House official told Swan.

If Kavanaugh is not confirmed, then the attention will turn to the campaign season. If Republicans retake the Senate, then Trump will obviously be able to appoint another judge to the Supreme Court. If Democrats win the Senate, however, they would presumably seek revenge for Merrick Garland and hold the seat open through the rest of Trump's first term. Therefore, Republicans would have to confirm a nominee during the "lame duck" session between the Nov. 6th election and when the new Senate is sworn into office in early January.

This, to me, would be a lot more difficult than it sounds. For Democrats to win control of the Senate, it would mean that Republicans would have been eviscerated. Under such conditions, even if McConnell wanted to, I'm not sure that he could convince fence-sitting senators such as Susan Collins to go along with the effort. Collins, to be clear, would be up for re-election in 2020 in a presidential election year. Already under significant pressure to vote "no," she may buckle after witnessing a total slaughter. Furthermore, vulnerable red state Democrats, whose votes are now in play, would be off the hook after Nov. 6th, having likely survived. So it could be a tough sell.

McConnell is often treated as a legislative wizard, but much of that reputation has been earned from his ability to maintain party discipline when it came to blocking President Obama's agenda when Republicans were in opposition. He has a much more mixed record when it comes to whipping votes to pass something, as evidenced, among other things, by the stunning failure to repeal and replace Obamacare.

Is it possible that Kavanaugh goes down, Trump appoints somebody new, and McConnell is able to race to confirm him or her by Jan. 1st, regardless of what happens in November? Sure, it's possible. But it's far from as automatic as many liberals are suggesting.

Most voters don’t see the Kavanaugh abominable feminist circus against Judge Kavanaugh and his family as a political election campaign issue. We see it as a problem that will be corrected now, one way or another—the easy way or the hard way. And we know that all politicians, their “important” constituents and their spoiled rotten spawn are complicit.

Why would Mr. Swan know what Trump has ready should Kavanaugh’s nomination not got through?

Let Trump nominate Garland and have the FBI do a THOROUGH background check and blow his life up with false accusations. Then they can accuse 0bama of nominating a rapist pedophile.

After the Senate wins another bunch of seats, Trump will just renominate Kavanaugh.

‘K’ will be confirmed. But if he isn’t, it will motivate the base to win more Senate seats.

“He has a much more mixed record when it comes to whipping votes to pass something, as evidenced, among other things, by the stunning failure to repeal and replace Obamacare.“

In fairness, much of the blame for that was at the feet of the brain-diseased McCain.

Nope. What destroys it for the Republicans is PULLING the nomination, or simply not allowing a vote in the full Senate (thereby bailing out the Dems).

If there is a vote and Kavanaugh sinks, our side will place the blame where it belongs, on Flake (mainly), and I guess one or both of the gals...not on the others.

THEN, if Trump promises to resubmit Kavanaugh in January, then those Red State Dems that help sink him will be in big-time trouble...and the Reps will likely have 53 to 55 votes in the Senate, for more than needed to overcome the gals (and Flake will be gone by then).

Bottom line - Kavanaugh loses 3 months on the Court, and (finally) get a Senate able to quickly push through ALL of Trump’s appointments.

...it’s actually a WORSE outcome for the Dems...providing the Republicans are willing to have the up-or-down vote.

Look, the democrats are wearing us down. I see it in the comments. If this doesn’t happen, there will be no second chance. Call your senator today. Demand a vote for Kavanaugh. This is our last stand.

I see it in the comments.

I'm reminded of Elisha...

2 Kings 6:15–17

15 And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots. And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?”

16 So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.” 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.”

Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw. And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.

No bust here. I’ve had it with the Democrats and their temper tantrums, and I’m looking forward to going to the polls and voting Republican this November.

This fight has moved beyond Judge Kanavaugh’s confirmation to the real issue of the Revolution taking place under our noses, which will give radical women control over America, except that once they destroy our current system, the brutal, tyrannical, leftist men who used them will take power. I believe the following is a revealing glimpse of the radical women who dream of male genocide, from their high places. These are quotes from “Tucker Carlson Tonight.” “Former Bush Campaign Strategist and political analyst, Matthew Dowd, published an op-ed demanding that white male Christians vacate their power for other people.” (White Privilege) “He did not OPENLY advocate for genocide, or, that he abandon his own position.” However, on “Sept. 29, 2018, Christine Fair @ChristineFair, a Georgetown professor did, on Twitter” Tucker showed her post on the screen as follows: “Look at the chorus of entitled white men justifying a serial rapist’s arrogated entitlement. All of them deserve miserable deaths while feminists laugh, as they take their last gasps. Bonus: We castrate their corpses and feed them to swine? Yes.” If this is stunning to you, then you need to give yourself a crash course about this rotting society, led, in many ways by radical women. I am a woman and I deny that any part of me is similar to them. I love men and consider them a part of me and everyone in this world. We need their intelligence, their protection and their love, and, as women we need to stand against radicalism, which is so foreign to our gender, and against real racism, which is so foreign to our souls. Are we going to sit by and let this happen? If so, God will receive our souls if, indeed, we have to go to war and to die to confront this idea of genocide. We all know that ideas often turn into reality.

, if Trump promises to resubmit Kavanaugh in January

Can Trump do that? I thought if the Senate votes him down, he is done. Great to hear that this is an option. I was thinking have Mitch call a Senate recess now, appoint Judge and go from there.

You also have the STOP ACT and HR6 STREET JUNKIE BILLS to STOP. Why should Pain Patients, Cancer Patients, Palliative Care Patients be denied Pain meds while Street Junkies are treated like Royalty and get big money for their habit in clean shoot up rooms, clean needles, and a Supervisor with Narcan standing by? You have the CDC Director vowing war on Pain meds, while ignoring Street Drugs flowing across our borders, His 37 yr old son is a Street Junkie OD on Heroin/Fenatayl and he blames a prescription Opioid. Kolodeny owns Suboxone Clinics. But you have to be in ‘withdrawal’ for that. Intractable Pain Patients don’t have withdrawal. They just commit Suicide when the pain gets more than they can handle. Those numbers are being hidden. More Veterans are committing suicide daily since their pain meds were taken away 3 months before Civilians. Idiots forget we are still in 2 active Wars. With Nigeria being another Vietnam set up.

"Hello, Zimbabwe."

Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse promised that “as soon as Democrats get gavels” the party will investigate and possibly impeach Kavanaugh. Democratic House reps on Judiciary....including Ted Lieu (D-Calif.), Hank Johnson (D-Ga.), Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.), Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) and Jerry Nadler (D-N.Y.), have declared they will investigate Kavanaugh as soon as they regain control over the House.

This vengeful, hate-filled talk is very troubling.....something you'd hear from tinpot dictators in cultural zero Third World countries.

Threatening political retaliation is not done in a republic.....unless you are power-starved Democrat.

Democrats plotting to rid themselves of people standing in their way is ugly and a threat to governance.
