The march from Honduras echoes the 1980 Mariel boatlift. These columns favor generous immigration and asylum for refugees. But when migration becomes a political weapon to foment border chaos, leaders have no choice other than to step in and protect national security. Exhibit A are the 4,000 or so Central Americans moving on foot through Mexico to the U.S.
Waves of humanity marching in lock step don’t materialize spontaneously and neither has this “caravan.” This march is organized and not necessarily for the benefit of the migrants. Mr. Trump has good reason to turn it back.
Not since the 1980 Mariel boatlift from Cuba has there been a similar attempt to overwhelm U.S. immigration law on the pretext of celebrating American freedom. Thousands of Cubans made their way to Florida when Fidel Castro temporarily lifted his Havana Curtain, and American boats of every shape and size sailed into the Caribbean to collect them.
But the sheer magnitude made it impossible to process the newcomers in an orderly fashion. Castro saw to it that criminals and the mentally ill also climbed aboard the boats. No one doubted the Cuban hunger to escape, but the unintended consequences of the mayhem were costly.
A Mariel replay now seems to be coming from Honduras. Though the details are murky, we do know that former Honduran congressman Bartolo Fuentes of the left-wing Libre Party has admitted to organizing this caravan.

Guatemalan police officers detained Bartolo Fuentes, a former Honduran lawmaker, from the middle of the large crowd that he and three other organizers had led from San Pedro Sula, Honduras, since Saturday, Reuters reported.. Fuentes is reportedly being deported back to Honduras according to the Honduran security minister.
Looking at the photos, the comparison the Mariel Boat Lift is perfect. Mostly young, able bodied males in the crowd. Wonder how many jails and prisons have been emptied to participate in this invasion.

A hurricane is heading for them. They must get back on the buses and go home now. Their safety is not Trump’s responsibility, but he will be blamed.

Drop fliers telling the caravan that if they get into the US they will get no food. housing or medical. If we keep them off of every government program they will leave. Tell them the only money they get from us is a plane ticket home.
Also tell Mexico if the caravan keeps coming we will stop all money coming from the US to Mexico. Since it is the 2nd largest part of their economy they can’t do without it.
Read the full editorial, if you haven’t done so...this is entirely part of a leftist radical plot to get the former left-wing president Zelaya, banned from running again and making himself president for life, back into the presidency of Honduras. It’s backed by Venezuela, in addition to the radical leftist party in Honduras. I’m sure Obama is involved somehow, but it’s mostly a foreign-backed leftist invasion of Mexico and the US.
If even the WSJ thinks it must be stopped and they must not be admitted, you know it’s really bad.
President Trump should issue an Executive Order that immediately tacks a 90% tax on any monies being transferred by Western Union to Mexico, Guatemala or Honduras.
Also, isn’t there a requirement that any immigrant that comes in this country signs a document saying that they will not apply for any welfare? Why are they getting welfare from us? This should stop immediately. Does anyone know if they are required to have a sponsor or family who is re$pon$ible for them? If so, why isn’t that also enforced.
Drones should be used to drop pamphlets on this ilk letting them know that they are not wanted and will not be permitted in our country. Give them advance notice so when it hits the fan, nobody can say they weren’t warned.
I don’t agree with giving them airfare home. They walked here, they can walk their asses back to their sh!tholes. Sorry for the language but they revulse and disgust me with their boldness, ignoring the fact that they are not wanted.
No way should they be allowed to benefit from the millions of our ancestors who have put their lives on the line so that our country be better. We have a long history of incredible people who stood up against evil, so that their descendants could have a better life. We have high-tech crowd dispersal weapons that do everything from pound your cranium with painful levels of sound to make you crap your pants to make you feel like your skin is on fire.
Might not even need those if Trump does two things.
1) Close the Mexican border NOW. Nothing comes in except US Citizens with a passport.
2) Use emergency Homeland Security powers to suspend ALL Western Union wire transfers to Mexico.
Then tell the Mexicans to get serious about ending this.
Facing an imminent collapse in their economy, they will comply.
