Taxpayer savings, the way I see it he had it coming.. Perhaps BOP moved him to the prison most likely to perform the deed. Good job.

"According to the Associated Press, an inmate at the prison was killed in a fight in September, and another inmate was killed in a fight there in April."

This wasn't a fight. It was a hit.

The killing of Wheeler was a huge mystery for a long, long time.

Some people just deserve killing - in Whitey’s case it took way too long but he’s finally smoking a turd in Hell. Good riddance.

Didn’t Mueller and the DOJ put Bulger into the Witness Protection program?

Hmmm...

From Wikipedia:

In 1956, Bulger served his first term in federal prison when he was sentenced to time in Atlanta Penitentiary for armed robbery and truck hijacking. He later told mobster Kevin Weeks that while there, he was involved in the MK-ULTRA program, the goal of which was to research mind-control drugs for the CIA. For 18 months, Bulger and 18 other inmates, all of whom had volunteered in return for reduced sentences, were given LSD and other drugs. Bulger later complained that they had been "recruited by deception" and were told they were helping to find "a cure for schizophrenia". He described his experience as "nightmarish" and said it took him "to the depths of insanity.

Need to investigate if Mueller ordered the hit. Mueller had 3 people imprisoned for 20 years to cover his relationship with Bulger.

My Dad was a child of the Depression and grew up in South Boston (known as “Southie” by the natives). His older sister (long departed) used to worship Whitey's younger brother,Billy.I used to debate her, telling her that both the Bulgers were filthy crooks. She'd have none of it!

Reminds me of when National Review was a good, readable mag: when they announced the obit of a famous person, their final line was “He (or she) will be missed”. When Bella Abzug died, they wrote “She will not be missed”. Feel the same way about Bulger; the way he was snuffed out reminds me of the scene set to classical music in Breaking Bad where they wiped out nine potential informants in three separate prisons all at the same time.

I wonder why Bulger died soon after a transfer.
