A rebel attack on Aleppo has left dozens suffering of breathing problems and blurred vision, with a smell of gas reported over the city, according to Syrian media. Officials said all of the victims were civilians.
At least 50 people have been treated for symptoms including breathing difficulties and blurred vision in Aleppo, after rebels fired shells into two regions of the city.
Syrian officials and residents suspect the shells contained poisonous gas, with symptoms suggesting chlorine, according to medical official Haj Taha.
A doctor told Syrian state TV on Saturday that at least two people, including one child, were in critical condition.
Witnesses reported a smell of toxic gas after the projectiles hit, which was also confirmed by the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
"There are often missiles on the city but this is the first time we smelled such a smell," a patient told the state TV while at the hospital.

What a shame and we appreciate you keeping us up to date on the ongoing nightmare over there, which I thought had gotten quite a bit better.

Turkey is always a (bad) wildcard.
I’m not an authority on Syria. Just have good friends there. And am a long time observer. In the process I recorded by date relating to specific battles the progress over time.
Not for the entire 4 + years I’ve been following this but for over 2.
I still feel strongly that this must eventually be understood by the world. The region has that much impact on the world. (contrary to what some here think) But that depends upon your perspective of the interaction of Christians, Jews and Muslims in the region.
Of course it has much impact on the world.
It involves a Russian puppet regime, a NATO ally (God help us), the remains of ISIS, Iran, our own people on the ground, etc.
Why should I care?
From the linked article, the local rebels claim they don’t have the capability to launch an artillery based chem attack. I don’t think I’d believe ANY of these parties, including the Russians.
What is your take?
I feel guilty for not wrestling more with the literal, actual human cost of this ordeal. It’s so easy to philosophize and intellectualize war from a policy standpoint while not grappling with the lives actually lost and wasted, and those traumatized for years to come...I remember watching a Food Network special take place in Damascus years back - it looked like such an intriguing and colorful place with an ancient spirit. Very hospitable people.

They are backed by Nato. They have the capability. When the attacks happened, it was pretty much crickets from Western Media, but now the old “Assad did it” dog & pony show is being trotted out.
I don’t trust Syrian state media. It’s very likely that gas canisters have only been launched or sometimes dropped from Russian or Syrian state aircraft there, as they were from Hussein’s aircraft against the Kurds in Iraq nearly three decades ago.
And the rebels (what’s left of ‘em) don’t have the kind of artillery needed for gas attacks of any kind.
Everyone sees where the Turks might end up on the matter. Shipments of sensitive arms to the Turks have already been suspended. Everyone also knows on some level of cognizance or other where the situation is going, but most people in every nation and feel-good religion continue to deny that knowledge.

The “rebels” (aka Islamist Terrorists) have history of using chemical weapons. Some of them have killed themselves doing it because they were not smart enough in handling it.
Turkey has in the past been the source of the precursor chemicals for them (back about 3 years ago). I don’t think chlorine gas is very complicated. It is dangerous to handle.
In this case, I’m not sure what delivery system they used.
Prior to Turkish invasion of N. Syria, the Rojava region was poor, but the people lived Spartan but quiet lives. First the Jihadi’s came and then ISIS, the Kurds and their neighbors had to adapt to survive. They did this with little or no help from Assad. (A time that I once called “Beyond Damascus”. You're on your own.)
There are still kind people and good neighbors in much of Northern Syria, but the war has changed that too.
Turkey is a source of great evil there. I hear rumors that the US has become very weary of his nonsense.
Syria will never be “the same”. It will get better or get worse. The US presence there is a positive thing for the stability. Israel needs this worked out. The anti-ISIS coalition is the basis for the new equilibrium. Iran and Turkey are the destabilizes.
