The old stadium didn’t have a video screen. So I had to scramble up the aisle, to the concession stand (where there were TVs hanging) to make sure what exactly it was I saw. Me, my sister, and my late dad.

I don't know about that. The only drug use in baseball I know about is the rampant cocaine use in Pittsburgh by the Pirates back about 40 years ago.

Mr. Burns hires pro baseball players as ringers for a high-stakes softball game against Shelbyville. Said ringers end up in a variety of mishaps: Mike Socia gets radiation poisoning, Steve Sax is arrested for every unsolved crime in Springfield, Ozzie Smith disappears into the Twilight Zone, Wade Boggs is punched unconscious by Barney in a barroom fight over who was England’s greatest prime minister... you get the picture :-)

That sounds pretty entertaining and funny.

I never watched the Simpsons back then. I operated a (plant) propagating nursery, and was working at least eighty hours a week, seven days a week. It was a labor of love.

Work, eat, sleep, .... work, eat, sleep, etc., etc.

ps -- I'm a little surprised they didn't work in a chicken dinner angle in the Boggs episode, given that it was said that he insisted on eating chicken before every game. ;-)
