Wednesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) told reporters President Donald Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. forces from Syria is an “Obama-like move.”
Graham said, “In my view, ISIS is not defeated in Syria and Iraq. If you are tired of fighting radical Islam, I understand it. They are not tired of fighting you, and if you don’t get that you are making a huge mistake.”

The White House says U.S. has started returning troops home from Syria as it transitions to next phase of campaign. Additionally, all U.S. State Department personnel are being evacuated from Syria within 24 hours (link).

These victories over ISIS in Syria do not signal the end of the Global Coalition or its campaign. IOW, go after your enemy with sufficient power to crush him, or prepare to have your ass handed to you. In the case of ISIS, hobbling our troops with narrow rules of engagement while doing anything less than all out war to win leads to stalemate, wasted treasure, and misspent lives.
More likely, he as a rewarding under the table financial situation at risk if we withdraw.

The Republican senator from South Carolina first blasted Trump on Twitter, writing that the withdrawal of the roughly 2,000 U.S. troops in Syria “would be a huge Obama-like mistake.”...
“An American withdrawal at this time would be a big win for ISIS, Iran, Bashar al Assad of Syria, and Russia. I fear it will lead to devastating consequences for our nation, the region, and throughout the world.”...
Graham tweeted that declaring victory over ISIS is premature: “With all due respect, ISIS is not defeated in Syria, Iraq, and after just returning from visiting there—certainly not Afghanistan.”...
In the halls of the Senate, Graham told ABC News he will be meeting with Defense Secretary James Mattis and called for a hearing on the decision. In another jab at Trump, he said that foreign policy can’t be determined over a tweet...
He was one of several senators who expressed their discontent to Vice President Mike Pence at a Republican luncheon.
Senator Susan Collins of Maine told reporters that they had a “lengthy” discussion about the decision to pull troops out of Syria.
Senator Bob Corker, who is the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and a frequent critic of the president, headed to the White House this afternoon to talk to Trump about Syria.
The senator from Tennessee told reporters that he thought Trump just “woke up” and made the decision.
Earlier today, Rep. Adam Kinzinger, R-Ill., pushed back on the president’s declaration of victory over ISIS, tweeting, “This is simply not true.”
Florida Sen. Marco Rubio told ABC News that Trump’s advisers did him a “terrible disservice.”
“This is a colossal, in my mind, mistake. A grave error. This is going to have significant repercussions in the years and months to come,” Rubio said...

Military Times: Defense Secretary Jim Mattis and other top military officials tried to discourage Trump from ordering the withdrawal, saying it was a bad idea and would risk ceding control of Syria to Iran and Russia or give the Islamic State a chance to regroup, according to the New York Times.
The Pentagon initially declined to confirm the media reports, issuing an earlier statement Wednesday morning that made no mention of withdrawal.
