President Trump hosted a number of Republican and Democratic House lawmakers at the White House Wednesday to negotiate over border security and end the ongoing government shut down.
“The President and his team had a constructive meeting with bipartisan members of the problem solvers caucus. They listened to one another and now both have a good understanding of what the other wants. We look forward to more conversations like this,” Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said about the meeting.
These House Democrats in the centrist Problem Solvers Caucus met today with @realDonaldTrump in the Situation Room to discuss the shutdown:

The Problem Solvers Caucus was founded in 2013 and currently has 43 members. Here's more background from Ballotpedia:
The Problem Solvers Caucus began as an initiative of the group No Labels, which was founded in 2013 to develop a bipartisan strategic agenda for federal legislation. In the group's announcement of the Problem Solvers Caucus, No Labels co-chair Jon Huntsman said, "The members of this new caucus are heeding the call of millions of Americans who want a new politics of problem solving in our government. It’s a bold move and a challenge to the way business is typically done in Washington. Our country needs more leaders like these willing to rise above the partisanship and get things done."[1]
In an opinion piece describing No Labels, co-chairs Huntsman and Joe Lieberman described the Problem Solvers Caucus as "dozens of members of Congress, fostering collaboration and teamwork across party lines. These members of Congress have listened to the message, liked what they heard and are committed to an elevated level of cross-party cooperation."
Ahead of the meeting, the Problem Solver Democrats insisted the government must be reopened before real negotiations can begin. President Trump has repeatedly rejected this proposal.
In a statement, Democrats in the Problem Solvers Caucus who are at the WH right now insist that conversations about the country's issues "can only begin in earnest" once the government is reopened -- which is in line with the rest of the D party pic.twitter.com/8vR2uDSdXn— Ashley Killough (@KilloughCNN) January 16, 2019
So, here we are.
Spanberger is a hardcore leftist despite her protestations and smiles. Ted Bundy smiled before he struck.
Hell, she was CIA. People forget that place is a leftist haven. Brennan tells them as an applicant that he voted communist in his last election, and they hire him and he makes it to the top. CIA supported Hillary and launched operations on her behalf. They smuggled weapons and money and a fleet of Toyotas to ISIS. They then there’s
Valerie Plame. And now this chick.
I’m not the smartest guy out there. But when communists thrive and keep rising to the top of an organization supposedly designed to protect America, and IT ISN’T A SCANDAL. And when they sided with Al Qeida in Libya and Syria, that was a switch of sides in the war on terror.
Like I said, I might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but at some point, we need to call it like it is. They are working against everything our founders stood for.
I guess it’s not a surprise if you think about skull and bones and how that sicko organization began.
Thanks for the mention.
I honestly don’t know the correct spelling.
It was an attempt at levity. Take it for what it’s worth... not much. LOL
I immediately thought of good old Harry. My comment was actually to the other guy who, in correcting you, still misspelled the word.
BTW I always misspelled it too and was shocked to learn how it was actually spelled.;-)
Is this demand nonsense?
Such a requirement is meaningless because there is nothing to guarantee that the wall will be funded.
The amount of money is not an issue. The USA spends more on sugar subsidies.
Because Democrats have acknowledged and supported a wall in the past, why would they not support it today?
Putting the government back to work without wall funding will just continue what has been going on for thirty years.
Build the wall!
“Such a requirement is meaningless because there is nothing to guarantee that the wall will be funded.”
Trump asked Nancy Pelosi if he agreed would she then agree to funding for border security? Trump then said Nancy told him no.
I believe the continuing resolutions that are keeping the other 75% of the government open, run out February 8th. Should be a fun three weeks. More leverage for the President.
Did they work something out? Or was this just another waste of time?
A lot of BS,it’s COMMON SENSE,BUILD THE FREAKIN Wall
Tell him you "appreciate his willingness to fund the wall before real negotiations can begin." That ought to tork his staff.
A waste of time? You're pretty ignorant when it comes to the art of politics, aren't you?
Will Jon be the one to end up on the back of the white horse instead of Mitt?
Here is one hairy carrying another hairy.
The Ameritrash leftists in the House have only one goal......kick the can down the road.
That is the only precedent they know. That is the only course in the playbook
By the way........ Pelosi loks bad. She has taken on the appearance of an emaciated crone
Well golly gee whiz, please give me the benefit of your vast understanding of the art of politics and enlighten me.
Did they work something out? Or was this just another waste of time?
><
It doesn’t matter. I shows Pelosi in a bad light. Good move by Trump.
