“I am here today and on Sunday, Feb. 3, to give the anthem back its voice, to stand for that historic choice of words, the way it unites us when we hear it and to free it from the same prejudices and struggles I have fought long and hard for all my life.”

You go Gladys

I found out about the controversy when listening to Mark Steyn fill in for Rush. And it occurred to me that if it is immoral for Gladys to do the gig, why is it all right for the African-American players to actually play? After all, haven’t they been compared to slaves by LeBron James, the very font of wisdom?

Please, please, please don’t apologize, Gladys! She’ll undoubtedly be assaulted by the forces of the PC to one extent or another. Hope she stands firm! Nothing worse than being un-PC, then taking it back. Better to just be PC in the first place.

“I understand that Mr. Kaepernick is protesting two things, and they are police violence and injustice,” Knight wrote to Variety. “It is unfortunate that our national anthem has been dragged into this debate when the distinctive senses of the national anthem and fighting for justice should each stand alone.”

She "seemed to criticize" Kaepernick?

They don't want her to make sense, they just want her to rant just like them.

The Libs need those. They give the Libs purpose. Ye Ole Race Card -- don't leave home without it. But, if you do, be sure to use your Sexism Card.

Not much of a criticism:

“I understand that Mr. Kaepernick is protesting two things, and they are police violence and injustice,” Knight wrote to Variety. “It is unfortunate that our national anthem has been dragged into this debate when the distinctive senses of the national anthem and fighting for justice should each stand alone.”

I think her handlers are trying to reduce the amount of booing that will occur while recording the legend’s delivery.

Crap...she brings back some GREAT MEMORIES in my past. I love her, that simple.

And, even after all these decades, she’s not letting me (or us) down. She is AMAZING! Hopefully God gives her many more decades on this planet.

Sounds like she has decided she doesn’t want to do the anthem at the Super Bowl. Expect a call for her removal from the left any time now.

Hoo-YAH Gladys.
Screw-Ya Kaepernick!

And just to lighten the mood, I had to throw this in.

She was neutral with Colin Kaepernick. She made a great and welcome statement. And no young black complainers are going to keep her from singing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.
The NFL is breathing a sigh of relief that they landed Gladys Knight.

From the article:

“Earlier this week, the NFL announced the halftime acts would be Maroon 5 and rappers Travis Scott and Big Boi. Scott’s decision to participate, in particular, received backlash, including from prominent African-Americans like Al Sharpton”

Al Sharpton is a prominent African-American? Anyhow for halftime bring back the college marching bands and the Frisbee dogs.

Yeppers.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ms. Knight suddenly finds herself DISINVITED from the half-time show.

Being anti-craperenick might offset her black woman status.

oops. Anthem. Not half time.

Although - I bet she is three times the talent of whatever half time show they have.
