Our Central American fruit suppliers are poisoning us.
East SEASONALLY and as close to home as you can:

A good coating of Nair will fix that peach fuzz.
It has the added benefit of keeping your tongue hair-free.
There was no greater fun when mowing the yard as kid than running over rotten mangoes. The splat was hilarious.
Our winter is Chile’s summer.
Appears to be some sort of sexual content.....
Nah.
You have to use a mild bleach solution or a cleanser with enough bleach in it to kill listeria. Unlike other bacteria, it can grow and spread in a refrigerator. It can take up to 70 days to make one ill.
To kill listeria with heat, the temperature has to be at least 149 F but may need to be higher for some food items like hot dogs (165).
Well, I was Russian because I was Hungary for some Turkey and so Iran and slipped on Greece, and it was only then that I realized how Chile it had become.
Sorry.
They are from Chile.
I never buy fruit out of season. And I dont trust other countries (especially to the south of us where bribery rules all) labeling either.
I’m getting old...I suppose the imported food is the problem. I spray most of my food with vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. So far, so good.
That’s one thing I don’t buy at Costco. I find their fruit and veg are usually far more expensive than at most of the local mini-chains or farmer’s markets.
The stuff is good quality, but I’d rather buy local anyway.
I don’t buy produce at Costco for exactly the same reason.
I will buy mushrooms though. I cut them up and freeze them.
I like their ground beef and we buy bacon, butter, milk and coffee and things like that mostly basics.
Their produce is higher than a cat’s back!
This is weird. We were just at the store late tonight and I picked up a jar of cut peaches, looked at it and decided to not purchase, though I couldn’t say why. Thing is, I don’t even normally buy peaches. Now I read this lol.
Great tip! Is that you Martha?
We banned all these chemicals that were used as insecticides yet today we are importing from countries that still use them, just a side comment to this other concern
Peaches, nectarines, and plums. Hmmmm....Are they grown in the US at this time of year? I don’t think so. I, personally, avoid buying most food that comes from outside the US.
You won’t find much US-grown fresh fruit on your grocer’s shelves in the dead of winter. Maybe some of those nasty red delicious apples that have been setting in a warehouse since September.
