WASHINGTON Democrats are furious at former Starbucks chief executive Howard Schultz for announcing that he may launch an independent campaign for president. They fear he will split the anti-Trump opposition and help re-elect the president. But what angers them even more is that Schultz is calling Democrats out for how radical their party has become.
When Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Massachusetts, recently floated her new wealth tax, Schultz called it "ridiculous." When Sen. Kamala Harris, D-California, said we should "eliminate" private health insurance, Schultz said, "That's not American." When Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-New York, proposed a 70 percent marginal tax rate, Schultz dismissed it, saying "I don't think we want a 70 percent income tax in America." Indeed, Schultz has ripped the entire Democratic socialist agenda, declaring "Free Medicare-for-all, government-paid free college for all first of all, there's no free. I mean nothing is free."
**SNIP**
But instead of tacking to the center to win back voters, Democrats are embracing leftist policies such as government-run health care, government-funded college for all, a government-funded job guarantee and a "Green New Deal." Together, these programs would cost $42.5 trillion about twice the national debt. And they are claiming they can pay for it all by taxing the very rich. That's impossible, and Americans know it. But it is what the most rabid elements of their party are demanding.

Tell Cortez to shaddap? I hope to see that on CNN.
Is this the dumbSchultz who couldn’t say what the difference between a Democrat and a Socialist is?
I myself am waiting for the first D party candidate and come out and say in explicit terms that white men are in fact second class citizens. It’s the end point of cultural marxism.
Howard Schultz has begun to replace Donald Trump as a lightning rod to absorb Leftist Democratic hatred.
On that I disagree. Schultz saw that poorly educated masses could be enticed into making economically imprudent decisions by playing on their vanity rather than logic. I could name several other companies that have done equally well for the same reason, but I would rather keep the discussion on Schultz.
The problem is...they really have no candidate for 2020...
If only this country had something like a free press to identify the fringe players in the Democrat party as fringe players and not hero-worship them, the Dens might produce some political ideas of value. If only.......
Apparently he was a Sgt in a German POW camp!
Schultz is no centrist.
He’s right up there with Cuomo.
What the demonicrats are really upset about is exposing the party as Santa Claus.
Everyone above the age of 7 knows Santa Claus does not exist. So when the candidates claim they are Santa Claus and the Federal government is full of elves producing services for free; even die hard leftist know its a lie.
He single handedly contributed to the radical shift by infusing his ridiculous identity politics into his coffee shop business model. I notice his open bathrooms obnoxiousness disappeared without a whimper, as did for his baristas to lecture you about racism upon purchasing your coffee.
Correct. In a time when democrats are all crawling over eah other to prove they are the most communist he's smart enough to realize that if the dems want to win back PA, WI, MI blus collar folk being overtly communist won't get it done. So he's set himself apart as being not communist, which in todays democrat party makes him the radical.
But he is communist, just a smarter marketer.
Schultz, please don’t say anything. The old adage works...and I’m going to paraphrase it ‘Let an insane person talk if he is a leader of the Dem...and they are many insane people.’
Yeah, and he's the same one who said "America is for [illegal] immigrants, not Americans" That's a great campaign slogan. Put it on a blue hat. /s/
And the very same one who can't tell the difference between Starbuck's buying customers and vagrants and drug-addicts off the street with regards to Starbuck's bathroom policies.
And he's also the one who was forced to step down as chairman and CEO of Starbucks after saying he'd hire 10,000 illegal refugees instead of 10,000 American military veterans.
And the one who said he's not very smart.
Well, after all the other stuff you and I noted above, I would have to agree with him on that self-assessment.
His campaign slogan is, "I know nothing, I see noth...ing."
A 3rd party Independent calling out the Democrats, and shedding light on those cockroaches is a good thing. And Schultz should embrace the hate and soldier on. Any cleansing of that gut bucket of leftist scum is a worthy endeavour.
“The problem is...they really have no candidate for 2020...”
Shhhhhh... that is not a problem. That is a gift.
Democrats look like they picked up every three card Monte dealer in the nation to make it’s party.
Fifty percent of the electorate view presidential elections as a reality tv show where the audience gets to vote for the winner.
They are mostly millenials that don’t pay taxes and don’t need medical care, or they are welfare types that don’t pay taxes and have free medical care and other benefits. The economy is an abstract concept. Morality is irrelevant. The Dems have made a science in understanding, manipulating and exploiting these weak souls through emotional appeals.
