How dare they take my free stuff away!
Ungrateful bastards.
Yah. Like, what’s with taking my free stuff, eh? Ya hosers!
It’s been known since Aesop, you trust govt, you get screwed. Still as true today as ever.
Finland announced about half-way through their year-long program that it wouldn’t be renewed. The problem is that the budget people sit down and add up the numbers....realizing that it’s going to cost a ton of money, and wondering where they can carve this off from.

Give all residents a basic income.
Everybody quits their job.
Nobody works.
Airlift then drop pallets of free food onto main street.
All restuarants die.
Once a giveaway program is created by government, it becomes an entitlement, and almost impossible to take away.
And, entitlements don’t just work with free stuff from government. Other forms of entitlement are the rights granted, such as abortions, or the killing of the unborn. Which is why people in government are trying to define 3rd-term abortions, up to the time of birth, as legal. Once it’s allowed, it’s an entitlement and no court will ever take that ‘right’ away. It’s why Roe v Wade is impossible to undo.
I’m sure Canadian taxpayers are paying for the lawyers that are suing them as well.
