I spent the first half of 2015 pregnant and then I had a late-term abortion. My husband and I decided early that year to try to start a family. I succeeded almost immediately in getting pregnant. There was obviously a healthy mix of excitement and terror. While it happened a little quicker than we anticipated, we wanted our baby.

I imagine this is trying to justify late term abortion for all cases.
Can’t we just say that not everyone is her? No matter how much she tries to justify it, it sounds like there’s plenty that she isn’t telling, and she is selectively telling details and sensationalism to make herself look good.
Have your baby and care for that baby. If my parents had known what I have, they would have aborted me. However, I have enough intellect to write here. Sorry, selfish people.
She had an abortion, and that never makes anyone look good.
And having a late-term abortion only makes her look worse.
So, the docs didn’t discover the problem until the baby was almost born?
And she states that she had no other choice, which most of the time people say there was no other choice,it’s BS
Trying to justify the rule by stating the exception is a cheesy debate tactic.
Too bad this woman wouldn’t care for a baby who was handicapped. Sounds like the early years of Nazi Germany.
They killed their baby because it would have a birth defect. HOW IN GOD’S GREEN WORLD IS THAT JUSTIFIED?!?!?!?!
If you found my story useful share it. If you have questions ask them. Ask me, ask your doctor, call your local Planned Parenthood or check out their website.

So the story was an advertisement for planned parenthood.
Ultrasound at 21 weeks, then following a medically advised true therapeutic abortion in a week or so. A medical diagnosis— not a “convenience” abortion during labor. Huge difference.
This is not a “late term” abortion. 21 weeks is the Second Trimester, during which therapeutic abortions are legal in all states, and clinically appropriate— especially in this case of a completely exposed spinal cord at the base of the baby’s head.
Would any decent person ever want to associate or socialize with this woman? At her core she is evil regardless of her phony rationales and attempts to promote and justify killing.
Leaving aside ethical considerations, she was able to get an abortion in the state in which she resides. This has nothing to do with obtaining a late term abortion for serendipity, which unlike spina bifida is not a disease. And which is the point of the laws under discussion.
The doctor said very likely the child would be paralyzed from the neck down.
I guess getting a second opinion never occurred to them. Surgeries are available to mitigate it.

Spina bífida is not the end of the world, and it sounds to me like the docs were trying to scare this woman with the worst case scenario. The condition has many gradations; I had a friend who was born with spina bífida, had corrective surgery and a shunt installed as an infant, and lives a perfectly normal life. Even the most severe cases (as this one sounds), where the spine is open, can often be corrected or minimized by new surgical procedures. Its hard to imagine that nobody would have discussed this with her.
I think this woman sounds very defensive and as if she is trying to convince herself that she did the right thing. And because her scenario feeds into the political narrative of the left, shes found a way of doing it.
21 weeks. Still nearly 20 weeks to develop. And there are too many stories of bad/wrong diagnoses of this type with the child being born completely normal
If true that the baby would not make it to term or die at birth, I would rather take that time to pray, seek God’s healing, and accept His plan.
Ask her if it is sufficient “reason” to abort a baby that it intersexed with dual or ambiguous genitalia.
There are adults who do abort because the baby they have created isn’t the sex they wanted.
I know someone in his 60s who was born with spina bifida.
Of course I would gladly associate with her. This was not a mere birth defect. I would not wish that kind of life for a newborn. She did it as soon as they found out.
