College Paper... Op-ed Slamming Conservative Ideas: 'Not Equal To Liberal & Left'
Fox News ^ | 2-10-2019

The independent student newspaper at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, published an op-ed in which the student author slammed conservative ideas, saying they "are not equal to liberal and left ideas."

The piece, titled "It's OK that conservatives don't feel welcome," appeared in the "Student Life" paper.

The op-ed's author explained that conservative ideas don't "deserve equal consideration to that afforded liberal and left ideas."

"There is no legitimate argument for supporting Donald Trump and his allies, at least not one that holds up in any academic community worth its salt," the author wrote. "But we shouldn’t create an impulse among the student body to pretend, out of politeness, that there’s anything valuable in the Republican policy agenda."

The president of Washington University's College Republicans, Drew McPike, said Sunday on Fox & Friends that he was "blown away" by the piece.

"I really was wondering where [the author] found his moral superiority in that, to say that conservative ideas aren't remotely a good thing and that they shouldn't be compared to liberal ideals," McPike said.

McPike said that he and his conservative friends on campus are hesitant to share their political views with others, but that they will stay strong in what they believe.

The op-ed's author did not respond to Fox News' request for comment, however, the university's vice chancellor of student affairs wrote a statement to the editors of Student Life.

"I feel it is critical to remind your readers -- and, in that way, our entire student body -- that we intend for our university to be a place where all are welcome and where diversity of identity, thought and perspective are celebrated," Lori S. White wrote.

White went on to say that "it is not OK for any student to feel unwelcome at Washington University...

The piece, titled "It's OK that conservatives don't feel welcome,"

It is very important to note history at this point. EVERY Leftist takeover is immediately followed by the oppression, and often the widespread murder, of those who opposed their rise. That's us. They have to dehumanize the opposition first, and work to make sure that the majority of the population will accept this mistreatment, and even cooperate or assist in small ways, when necessary. Hillary didn't accidentally call half the nation "Deplorable" in a national speech. This is just part of their endgame. History is cyclical, and the Left's MO has not changed one itoa in the last 110 years.

Ignore this at your own peril. It CAN happen here, and it WILL if they take power... as they almost did in 2016... and their devout acolytes CRIED because they were cheated out of the opportunity to stand up and feel righteous as they advocated and supported our murders.

Could it be any more obvious what these people have in mind for us if they ever get control of the levers of power again?

“Liberal ideas” blow away “Conservative ideas” any day.

“Conservative principles” blow away “Liberal principles” any day.

History has shown that most “liberal ideas” are as real as unicorn magic. Unfortunately, our education system doesn’t teach principles and history, but instead teaches ideas like “diversity” and “equality of outcome”.

Ideas are wishes. You can only build a lasting country on principles. And the country only lasts until the people no longer agree to live by the same set of principles - which seems to have happened in the US.

It appears the writer at Washington University holds the same ideas as some people I interacted with on the CBS Sunday Morning Facebook page on their piece about John Dingell's death after being the longest-serving Congressman:

ME (opening thread comment) This piece was as important for what wasn't said: the Dingell family holding this seat in Congress for nearly 100 years - Dingell's father, Dingell, and now Dingell's widow. A true example of the DC swamp.

YYY..(to ME) i think you mean the #trumpanzee swamp....hahahhaha...you must have farts in yo brain...

ME to YYY - so lovely on a Sunday morning to encounter such a mistress of the ad hominem. 🤬🤣

XXX to ME -YOU are ridiculous. supporting that criminal psychopath, racist, sexist, pathological liar, and colossal ignoramus in the white House, are you? What a brainwashed idiot!

XXX Oklahoma. It figures.

ME And another high-minded person joins the ad hominem chorus rather than discussing the value of a Congressional seat held by one family for almost a century. Not hard to figure out how such a thing happens with such fine examples of logic and reason in the electorate...

ZZZ to ME - They just can’t help themselves. Their TDS has destroyed any sense of rationality or civility.

XXX The shitbag and his admministration ARE the swamp, the evil, the traitors, the greed machines, the killers, the idiots, the worst.

ME to XXX- still can't stay on topic??? Or is it OK with you that a Congressional seat has become like a seat in the House of Lords as long as the occupants advance your cause?

And on we may yet go from there...

NEW 2 MINUTE FED UP PROFESSOR #37 Am I alone in believing that we are facing a deeper divide than that between the statists on the left and traditional Constitutionalists but we are now divided into the sane and the insane? It’s getting downright CRAZY out here. It begs the almost rhetorical question of TO WHAT END? Be afraid! BE VERY AFRAID!! https://youtu.be/t173HOd43TE

"Ideas have consequences." - Weaver

Dostoevsky might come in handy right now for weary observers of the empty-of-spirit, pathetic and hateful Progressive ideologues who inhabit this still-wonderful nation called America!

"A man who lies to himself, and believes his own lies becomes unable to recognize truth, either in himself or in anyone else, and he ends up losing respect for himself and for others. When he has no respect for anyone, he can no longer love, and, in order to divert himself, having no love in him, he yields to his impulses, indulges in the lowest forms of pleasure, and behaves in the end like an animal. And it all comes from lying - lying to others and to yourself." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"The darker the night, the brighter the stars, The deeper the grief, the closer is God!" - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"When I look back on my past and think how much time I wasted on nothing, how much time has been lost in futilities, errors, laziness, incapacity to live; how little I appreciated it, how many times I sinned against my heart and soul-then my heart bleeds. Life is a gift, life is happiness, every minute can be an eternity of happiness." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"Only through suffering can we find ourselves." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

"If there is no God, everything is permitted." - Fyodor Dostoevsky

Note that the author of the liberal piece doesn’t actually identify or critique any conservative policy or position. None. He possibly is so deep in the bubble that he doesn’t know the conservative position on anything.

Technically, Hillary made the comment at a closed-door fundraiser and, if we want to be REALLY technical said that ‘half of Trump supporters’ are deplorable. Then she relied on the press to echo and amplify the idea across the country until it feels like she said it straight into the television.

Not all of those are Dostoyevsky, although most are.

The first one is from “The Brothers Karamazov”, therefore definitely his.

The second one, however, is from a poem by Apollon Maykov.

The third is from “Pisma”.

The fourth appears to be a corruption of a quote from “The Dream of a Ridiculous Man”, which properly reads: “On our earth, we can only love with suffering and through suffering.”

The fifth, from “The Possessed”, should read, “If there is no God, then I am God.”
