Ousting Trump via 25th Amendment is ‘clearly an attempt at a coup d’etat’
Fox News ^ | February 15 2019 | Alan Dershowitz

Posted on 02/14/2019 11:07:51 PM PST by knighthawk

Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz on Thursday said the Department of Justice’s discussions to employ the 25th Amendment to oust President Trump-- if true-- amounted to a coup.

Dershowitz appeared on Fox News’ “Tuck Carlson Tonight,” to give his take on former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe’s descriptions of Justice Department meetings where he said officials discussed ousting the president.

Evoking the 25th Amendment, Dershowitz said, would a fundamental misuse of its original purpose. It was originally “about Woodrow Wilson having a stroke. It’s about a president being shot and not being able to perform his office,” Dershowitz added.

first time Dershowitz showed real anger.

he has consistently argued against taking action against any of the parties - but he finally has to admit it was/is a coup attempt.

only way to stop it is to start arresting all the guilty parties.

Hannity was on fire tonight.

congrats to all those who have pursued this matter relentlessy despite the lack of interest from FakeNewsMSM and the Deep State.

Is was only going to buy them Mike Pence

If the 25th works once, it can work twice. Moreover, the VP pick of an orangemanbad is clearly unfit to execute the duties of office of the President. I mean what was he before that? Governor of what - Indiana, where's that.

I don’t think they did... I think they were hoping he’s resign. Or more likely McCabe is covering for a bigger conspiracy with higher stakes and players. this seems contrived to make it seem they just thought this up at the last minute and didn’t have a bigger internationalist agenda.

There was the alleged conspiracy dreamt up by FDR supporter Smedley Butler in 1933.

Dershowitz has to act smarter than this. He's taken Andrew McCabe's stupidity here and doubled down on it.

Removing a president under the 25th Amendment is more difficult than impeaching him in the House and convicting him in the Senate.

It's only going to buy them Mike Pence so why bother?

Remember right after the election, Pence brought his family to see Alexander Hamilton, and they were booed! My point, I'd wager they've already got bogus stuff made up about VP Pence and his family. And I wonder how safe he'd be. Because of Traitor Ryan throwing the House majority, the next in line after him is Pelosi.

“I do hope all involved in the coup attempt will be prosecuted for treason. But I’m not counting on it.”

My nickels on sedition. Basis for indictments and sustainment at trial are reasonably there. In my sea lawyer mind, treason is too much like pornography; everyone knows it when they see but likewise their definition is different.
In my mind, a sedition trial would ultimately have a cleansing effect on the country. Going forward, it would also encourage positive behavior by All Hands.
Going forward with laying of charges presupposes anyone having the stones to weather the predictable s**t storm that also would blow on ALL Hands.

Dersh’s words mean everything. Because he votes dem but honestly interprets the Constitution, his words have to be taken seriously.

Watch the video of Mike Pence at Poppy Bushs’ funeral, it will give you the creeps.

I wonder how many voters actually think Treason is a big deal. I suspect that many just see it as politics. During an election, I vote against the guy I don’t like. After the election, I manufacture evidence and manipulate the courts to push out the winner if I don’t like him. That’s just what you do. Right????

As another poster said, 40 years ago these events would have caused serious outrage. Today, because of the schools and the media, a lot of people will shrug and say “I just don’t want him to be president”.

"Today it’s actually happened and half the country not only does not care, their only concern is that it didn’t succeed."

IMO, it's actually worse than that. A significant number of them wish that it HAD succeeded...

“Today it’s actually happened and half the country not only does not care, their only concern is that it didn’t succeed”

The evidence of a coup attempt has not been clearly presented to “the country”, or you might say it hasn’t gotten our attention.

“The country” has yet to absorb the massive emerging truth that Trump was falsely, knowingly, accused of collusion with Russia.

“The country” has yet to absorbe the truth that the Clinton team broke laws.

“The country” has yet to absorb the truth that our media has lied to us.

I’m not as cynical about “the country” as the author is.

I don’t know what is worse for the republic; the actual attempted coup d’etat or the lack of action by Trump administration in punishing the traitors. Actually, could the latter be more corrosive to the republic than the former?

Half the country does not know there was a coup attempt. So why would they care? They believe the media lies and propaganda they have been fed.

You have to wonder, since the XXV plot would have had to involve Pence, if someone reached out to him?

I didn’t have issues one way or another about Pence until I watched a few videos as I was trying to gather information on the items that were inserted in some players programs. Pence’s body language is disturbing to me as is his scraping to the Clintons.
