A California student is challenging her school district after they told her she was banned from wearing her red Make America Great Again hat on campus.
Maddie Mueller, a senior at Clovis North High School in Fresno, is not afraid to share her political views with the world, and was shocked when school officials told her she's not allowed to wear the hat on campus on Wednesday.
Now Maddie, an aspiring Congresswoman, is fighting back saying her First Amendment rights are being violated.
'How does being a patriot in trying to show pride in your country, how is that inappropriate?' she said to Yourcentralvalley.com.
She's a member of the Valley Patriots, a conservative activist group, and they asked their members to wear their MAGA hats on February 20.

Is the school consistent? Does it equally forbid students from wearing leftist political advertising on their clothing?
If it is only conservative messages that the school disallows, while allowing leftist messaging, then there is a strong free speech issue here. However, if the school does not allow political speech of any kind, then there really is not a problem. IMO.
The school is NOT in their legal right. This idiot judge should never have qualified to be in the federal district.
If a patriotic hat is provoking violence then the problem is with the scum who is assaulting the person wearing the hat.
Sue the school for every penny and make the traitor judge pay for it.

There is an enormous problem if students are not allowed FREE SPEECH! Whatever happened to Civics classes and History Classes which delve into political subject matter? Students are ALL being turned into little conformists instead of being allowed to speak and argue for their beliefs. Remember, “Give me liberty or give me death.” Patrick Henry was not talking about hotdogs and hamburgers.

Though I would say that students should not be wearing clothing that will cause a rukus, I will be willing to bet eleventy billion dollars that Hope for Spare Change shirts were just dandy in 2008
If they ban all hats they are probably OK. If it’s only MAGA hats this’s should go to the Supreme Court. If they only banned hats after the MAGA hat it gets murky
After doing a little scratching, the referenced school may not necessarily be a quiet place.

I understand Fresno is 5th largest city in state, a blue state, so not necessarily quiet.

Probably not very many in any school in Clovis.
Article says MAGA and political wear is acceptable at school unless it will cause a problem? So really they have an acceptance policy but can single out whatever they feel like on any given day. What’s a kid to do bring extra clothes each day just incase?
