The identity-politics police come for Bernie Sanders (too old, very white)
NY Post ^ | 2/22/19 | Rich Lowry

Bernie Sanders catalyzed the Democratic Party’s post-Obama move to the left. He nearly beat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 Democratic primaries, and may have even been a stronger candidate against Donald Trump in the general. Now he’s back, and the party’s surging left wing is conflicted.

At one level, it’s thrilling for the left: If the self-proclaimed democratic socialist were elected president in 2020, it would represent a truly historic swing in the country’s political orientation. No one would be as committed to the party’s new, socialist-inflected policy agenda than the guy who came up with much of it in the first place.

But among the flaws on Sanders’ résumé for many progressives is one that he can do nothing about - he is a white male, and an old one. In the language of the modern left, the straight, cisgendered Sanders is burdened by his utter lack of intersectionality.

It’s a symptom of the delicacy of the situation that in attempting to talk his way around this gross status offense, he has caused even more offense.

Oh, by the way...

Today's progressive Dems are raging anti-Semites.

Too socialist. Old Bernie Sanders must have had some cross-over appeal to win over so many young voters last time, but that appeal isn’t unlimited. He’s not the most charismatic guy if you don’t already agree with him.

The reality is that Indian reservations are about as close as one could get, in our own backyard, to the socialist nirvana imagined by Bernie Sanders and his followers, like AOC. Virtual government ownership of the means of production, lack of property ownership and government oversight of too many other aspects of daily life.

His color and age do not matter.
The fact that the commie-droid has NEVER had a real job in his life does.
He knows nuttin’ about nutton’.
Which is wny the position of Democrat congresscritter - for him, it’s the most corrupt position of all, Democrat Senator is the ONLY thing this cretin could remain in and not be fired for incompetence.

I embrace Bernie Sanders running for President, and keeping to the forefront all of those wonderful ideas of those new House members he will mentor.

I for one am thrilled that the demoncraps have decided to crank it into a very leftist direction.

They have advertised their stand and do you know what the response they will get from regular folks?

Ordinary people, not really politically involved who probably voted for Obama, are going to take a good hard look at the dems, not believing their ears.

"What do you mean they don't want me to eat beef in ten years?"

"How am I going to get to Grandma's house in Chicago for Thanksgiving if'n they have stopped all air travel?"

"Are these idiots nuts?"

That is when the long hard looks are gonna take place.

People who haven't spent much time thinking about politics, except for voting, are going to wake up when they hear that will have no more beef and no more easy trips to Grandma's to enjoy.

I’m betting Bernie gets the nomination anyway - a lot of ‘rats are upset about the way it was stolen from him by the party in ‘16, and will turn out big time to get revenge — or — the party can go with some semi-psychotic “progressive” like Harris or Warren - either way, it’s Nixon/McGovern all over again.....

The most desolate places I ever saw were the Spirit Lake Reservation next to Devils Lake, North Dakota and the Pine Ridge & Rosebud Reservations in South Dakota. This was before casinos. I think the Spirit Lake Reservation now is one of the reservations that have been able to help their people via casinos, but I believe the reservation itself is still ruled by socialist government not by individual property ownership. They just get supplemental checks from the tribe’s casino. Pine Ridge & Rosebud Reservation is still third world, to my knowledge.

Those houses are not bad! I lived in worse in my youth on the High Plains, and saw people in the hills of Tennessee and Arkansas in worse.

And that’s what bothers them...not that he believes we should adopt the same society as that of the USSR and that bread lines are a good thing.
