Republicans (and conservatives) can get elected in non-white areas, but they have to first unify the white vote and STOP thinking that it’s racist to do so. To do that, they have to NOT pander to minorities, by promising Amnesty or talking about increasing social spending, or emptying the jails. Instead they have to talk about conservative ideas, getting government off the backs of the people, gun rights, school choice, etc.
The problem with pandering is that not only does it make the country worse, it leaves a lot of whites wondering why they should even bother voting for Republicans.
So how do I know that Republicans can win with the white vote - well, who are the other voters? Blacks, figure still mostly a lost cause - definitely not worth pandering to, but there’s still plenty of conservative issues blacks identify with - such as their way-disproportionate loss of people due to abortion, and the idea that their little daughters shouldn’t have to deal with perverts in locker rooms and bathrooms - and obviously DO NOT say anything racist, as that not only knocks down the black vote, it also turns off a lot of non-blacks.
Hispanics are the BIG PRIZE because they will and have voted Republican in very large numbers in the past - into the low 40s. For them pretty much similar policies and NO PANDERING on Amnesty - they’re not even asking for it (the legal ones at least), since Republicans have been getting 40% of their vote, even while being hard-right (i.e., being against amnesty and wanting a secure southern border, lol). Asians still need work, but make a strong case that their kids are being screwed over by Affirmative Action (which they obviously are), and they ‘should’ be able to understand that their economic future and there freedom, for that matter, depend on keeping Democrats out of power. They’re certainly smart enough to understand that, but Republicans have to PENETRATE their societies and explain what they have to lose if they keep enabling the AOCs of the world. (by the way, the number of Asians in this country has quietly risen to 50% of the number of blacks)
So you unify the whites, split the Hispanics (now the nation’s largest minority), and work on the Asians, and if you do the math, Republicans win 60% of the vote, every time.
While I know people don’t like tribalism (i.e., intentionally targeting the white vote), we simply DO NOT have the voting numbers to win with 55-60% of the white vote, thanks to our immigration numbers - and the Democrats have been tribal for decades now. We need numbers closer to 75-85% (along with high turnout), and that will be a challenge - but you don’t get there by pandering.
There are non-white Republicans, you know.
And some of them are what would be called “hard-right” (not “alt-right”, which is an imaginary construct acting as a front for a particular brand of socialism) conservatives, or more properly American nationalists.
Easy.
Trump is polling 40% with Hispanics, 16-25% with blacks.
Those numbers are landslide numbers given his performance with whites.
There are two women in our extended family, both around 30, and there is no indication of that happening.
Agreed. The big difference I see between Millenials and prior generations is that they are not letting go of socialism as they move into their 30’s and approach 40.
Too long a time living in mom’s basement on her health plan apparently.
Bush League Republicans have always known this would be the result of unfettered immigration that they assisted.
They will just change jerseys.
You care more about it that they do.
Not in my family. They are all 40 or close to it and still just as liberal as the day left college. The scary thing is they all have good jobs, kids, homes, and are still drinking the kool aid. Was it Lenin who said give the children when they are young and I will have them forever. It seems he was right.
No.
The problem is that the media and academia have done a great job over the past 30 or so years of defining the republican brand as ultra-fundamental Christian, which translates to young people and minorities as racist, old, white, homophobic, male and anti-science. Some young people and minorities agree with conservative/republican principles, but as soon as you put an R behind the name they shut down. They “know” how bad everything republican is, so their default is to vote against the R as much as for the D and the Left plays on that. Very successfully it would seem if 2016 was any indication. Most of the young people I know would never even listen to anyone with an R behind their name.
The women I know are successful professionals, one with an engineering degree, one with a Masters, and both have excellent professional careers. Even female engineers with good critical thinking skills are not immune to the siren of socialism.
I’m glad to hear Rush is bringing it up!
I think in bygone eras, ppl would normally turn more conservative as the real world hits them and they grow outta the liberal fairy tale.
Now though with social media, they fall further into group think and constantly have their BS reinforced and validated by thousands of fellow nutjobs. No to mention all of Hollywood/pop culture and (even sports now to a degree) pushing PC left wing ideals. Garbage in, garbage out
“Trump is polling 40% with Hispanics, 16-25% with blacks.”
If he doesn’t stop the invasion and legal immigration, it won’t matter. He’ll lose more than 10-15% of his base. Whoever has his ear in the white house(going back on his promises) is an idiot. Way worse than ‘read my lips no new taxes’.
“Now though with social media, they fall further into group think and constantly have their BS reinforced and validated by thousands of fellow nutjobs. “
That’s a fact. And as our collective IQ lowers with more third world riff raff, it’s only getting worse.
This is great question. Only if they change and pander to non-whites will Republicans ever get elected by a non-white majority country.

Minorities and Millenials have completely consumed the Kool-Aid that says Republicans are EEEEEEEEVIL and RAAAAAACIST and mean-spirited. If a way isnt found to break through that, and soon, the country is SCROOOOOOOOD.
>
You might as well hang it up now, I can’t recall *any* push-back from the (R)N(C). Only dropping to their knees to apologize for any feigned ‘slight’ of the Left.
Just look what they did to S. King recently. Turned on a dime to lynch ‘one of their own’.
>
I believe that IF Republicants would actually go back to being REPUBLICANS and supporting our Constitution and our REPUBLIC, they might start winning again. As things currently stand, we are screwed.
>
Boy, that’s a LONGS way ‘back’. I can’t think of anything they’ve fussed over during passing, if not their OWN mini-big-govt program(s) [TARP, NSA, TSA, NCLB], they didn’t soon turn around and pushed for “We’ll run it *better*” [O’Care].
“He won 8 percent of blacks, 29 percent of Hispanics and 29 percent of Asians. “
I actually think the idiots in the white house think they can win over more of the hispanic and black vote than they lose of the white vote from going back on their promises.
It’s a g-damn greek tragedy.
I also have a saying:
“When you are 20 and is not a liberal, then you have no heart. When you are 40, and you NOT A CONSERVATIVE, then you have NO BRAIN.”
