Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) on Thursday slammed Vice President Pence for having said he would not dine alone with women, calling it “outrageous.”
In a brief interview with MSNBC, the 2020 presidential candidate was asked what she thought about Pence.
“I disagree with him when he suggests it’s not possible to have meetings with women alone by himself,” she said. “I think that’s ridiculous — the idea that you would deny a professional woman the opportunity to have a meeting with the vice president of the United States is outrageous.”
Harris was referring to comments Pence made to The Hill in 2002, in which he said he never eats alone with a woman other than his wife. The comments were later resurfaced by The Washington Post in 2017, sparking a furor.
Alyssa Farah, Pence’s press secretary, quickly responding to Harris in a post on Twitter, knocking her for “repeating this false claim.”
"He’s elevated women to positions of leadership throughout his career & relies on their advice & counsel,” Farah wrote. “Get your facts straight.”
Harris’s comments regarding Pence were prompted by MSNBC host Peter Alexander asking for her take on fellow 2020 presidential candidate Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass) saying Pence is not an “honorable person.”
“I disagree with most of what the vice president stands for, when he makes decisions about our LGBTQ community in a way that doesn’t understand that they should be entitled to full equality and all rights under the law as any other American,” Harris said in response.
Pence, a devout and outspoke believer in the Christian faith, previously opposed same-sex marriage and is not viewed as an advocate for LGBTQ rights.
For Orthodox Jewish men and women, this is a religious requirement. Among other reasons, it prevents even the appearance of inpropriety. Being the bigot that she is, I imagine Harris would take issue with that as well.

Bringing this up just scored major points for Pence among most professional men

HahahaHarris probably doesn’t know that at one point the military had a standing rule that supervisors or middle management or upper management were to never be alone in a room with the opposite sex without a door open or a third party present. This was to avoid any possible incident or rumors of impropriety interaction with the opposite sex. There were plenty of people who thought that was stupid and at times there were charges brought up against them. With no defense because they didn’t have the door open or they didn’t have a third party present.
I might also add that in doctors and dental offices you are routinely asked if you would like to have a person of your sex present during an examination or procedure.
My personal care manager is a woman and whenever she’s examining me there has always been a male nurse in the room as a matter of her protocol.

Yes, it would hold women back from advancement. Had there been someone else in the room when she met with Willie, she never would have gotten as far as she did.
She can’t lie, blackmail or manipulate a man that refuses to be alone with her. I completely support Pence for this reasoning

If he has a private meeting with Kamala, she’ll probably come out an accuse him of sexual harassment or worse.
Our son-in-law supervises between 60 and 80 people depending on the time of year, many are women.
He will not meet with a female worker in his office without his female aide being present, no exceptions and no problems over the years.
That argument worked so well in keeping Obama out of office. Gosh, how can it not be a winning argument this time also!
