Full title: New Zealand's Gun Owners Have So Far Voluntarily Surrendered 37 Firearms Of An Estimated 1.2 Million
Following reports that a flood of New Zealand gun owners have been voluntarily surrending their firearms in the wake of last Friday's Christchurch mosque attack that left 50 dead, the numbers are in on how many Kiwis actually handed over their weapons.
Out of an estimated 1.2 million registered guns, New Zealand police report that as of Tuesday night, 37 firearms have been surrendered nationwide, according to BuzzFeed.
No accounting was provided of how many people owned those guns, the types of firearms, or where they were surrendered.
The reports of citizens disarming themselves came after a Monday announcement by Prime minister Jacinda Ardern that several "in principle decisions" on gun control have been made by Cabinet ministers, while praising residents who have surrendered their guns to police.
So far, we know of four people who have; Green Party member John Hart and longtime gun owner "@SirWB" - who each turned in a rifle, a grandmother who goes by the Twitter handle "@FeyHag" who said she requested for her family's guns to be handed in for destruction, and former New Zealand Army soldier Pete Breidahl - who said he warned local police of extremists at a local rifle club where he said he suspected the shooter was a member.

From 37 liberal morons...
I guess we are safe from them committing mass murder.
1.2 million guns in the country? Surprised there’s that many.
resist, with all means necessary.
And a married gun owner is AZ could double it!
Update: Tennessee Nana’s multiple gun owning NZ Dad is still rolling in his grave
While I envy such collections, I don't envy the cost and effort it takes to accumulate, store, and care for large collections.
I've got maybe fifteen in my collection, and it's quite a task to keep them all cleaned, stored properly, adequate ammo on hand for all, adequate mags for every one, all properly accessorized, with individual range bags for each, plus miscellaneous items and tools of all sorts to keep the family happy.
A fairly high compliance rate 37 out of 1.2 million would yield a (you do the math) percent. Politicians should declare it a victory and go on to approving a newborn baby slice and dice bill.
As for me I would of course immediately comply with such a firearm order and promptly surrender anything that I might come across around here. It would be the right thing to do.
There are 2 new guns I want to buy, but I’m in CA and can only buy 1 per month. I do have a broken, non functioning old Marlin bolt action 22 I’d turn in if our area had such events. Maybe I can just go the police office. I’d rather someone paid me.
6.5 BILLION!?!??!?!
It will soon be in the 10s of billions for one electioon!!
And I really wonder what the percentage of votes changed as a result.
End results aren’t so dramatic from early polls, it seems.
As I understand it, firearms are NOT registered in NZ, but an individual must have the correct type of license to obtain one.
That's why the pinko-commie-lib-gungrabbing-babykilling-islamophile™ reclassified modern sporting rifles before a law was passed to ban them, since they know once the government debates the new law banning them gun owners will buy them up, and there is no way for the authorities to track them down.
1.2 million guns is about 1 in 4 New Zealanders. 1 in 3 adults per capita. Not many western nations have that ratio ig guns to people. Frontier heritage?
Violent sheep gangs
The muzloving headscarf wearing dhimmi will order police to break into non-muz houses to take guns.
I wonder how violent the current prime minister will get to confiscate guns?
Leftists are bloodthirsty scum the world over.
Probably all broken, rusty, or zip gun types made from pipe. HA! HA!
