James Comey confused by Mueller's obstruction decision: 'I can't quite understand what's going on'
Washington Times ^ | Mar 26, 2019 | By Victor Morton

Former FBI chief James Comey said in a speech Tuesday evening that he is confused by Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s reasoning on charging President Trump with obstruction of justice.

Mr. Comey told his audience that while he had “great faith” in Mr. Mueller, the special counsel essentially punted on the matter, neither recommending that Mr. Trump be charged nor exonerating him.

“The part that’s confusing is, I can’t quite understand what’s going on with the obstruction stuff,” Mr. Comey told his audience at the Belk Theatre in Charlotte, North Carolina, according to an NBC News report.

Instead, Mr. Mueller’s nonrecommendation on obstruction, unlike his decision to exonerate Mr. Trump and his campaign of any collusion with Russians trying to affect the 2016 presidential election, put the decision in the hands of Attorney General William Barr, a political appointee who serves at the president’s pleasure.

“I just can’t tell from the letter why didn’t he decide these questions when the entire rationale for a special counsel is to make sure the politicals aren’t making the key charging decisions,” said the FBI ex-chief who started to oversee the Russia probe until Mr. Trump fired him in May 2017.

Mr. Comey also criticized Mr. Barr’s rationale for not charging the president on obstruction — essentially that while Mr. Trump did some things that might be considered obstruction in other contexts, there was no obstruction of justice here because there was no collusion to investigate.

There was no collusion, no "underlying crime" and no obstruction, Comey. You were fired for cause.

Time to get Comer, Clapper, and Brennan in solitary for a few weeks and get the waterboard ready. Tell them it’s protective custody as the next round is Hillary, Obama, and Lynch...

Lynch, what an appropriate name for a crook!

Mueller's also a political appointee who served at the president’s pleasure- funny how the author didn't mention that. They don't think Rosenstein, a political appointee, was political when appointing Mueller, do they?

Okay, Comey- last time I explain this: in our legal system you are innocent until proven guilty. Mueller neither recommended or pressed charges. Therefore, since the President is presumed innocent, and no charges were filed he HAS been exonerated.

It might have to do with the fact that a full disclosure of all the facts would show that both Mueller and Comey were criminal negligent when they ran the FBI. That just might have something to do with it.

This from the guy who did not recommend prosecutors bring charges against Hillary Clinton for her illegal handling of classified information? The same guy who said “Although the Department of Justice makes final decisions on matters like this, we are expressing to Justice our view that no charges are appropriate in this case”? The guy who wasn’t tasked with making a prosecution decision doing exactly that?

That is rich.

He’s just trying to steer the conversation away from the fact that he made the Hillary decision when the call belonged to Lynch.

Giuliani just came out and said he disagreed with Trump that Mueller acted honorably.

Of course Trump said the right thing, but then he lets the pit bull say the non PC thing.

Trump plays em like nobody else!

There was nothing honorable about Mueller.

...Clap hands for the media man
But does he think when he has to read the news
Media man - that’s right he’s a media man
See him push, see him crawl
Watch him rise, watch him fall
The excuse says the parrot in the tree
It’s what my public want to see
Media man - media man oh yeah
Clap hands for the media man
He always know when to lie
Clap hands for the media man
But will it add up with a penny on his eye
Media man - he’s a media man...

Dear Mr. Comey,

Just keep saying “no reasonable prosecutor”.

Hope that helps.

Enjoy your subpoena.

But Trump didn’t confess to our charges, so he obstructed our justice. Wahhhh......

You can’t have obstruction if there was no crime to start with.

Mueller did make a decision: He decided thay he did not have grounds to Indict That is all he had to do, and that is all he could do. Now, do you understand, Mr.Comey?

I interpret Mieller’s totally unnecessary statement that he could not exonerate on the obstruction charge as an expression of his frustration at not being able to indict Trump on anything. Mueller did all that he could to do the job that the deep state assigned to him but failed.
