MSNBC and CNN’s ratings have not recovered from a massive drop after special counsel Robert Mueller concluded his investigation into Russia collusion.
CNN delivered its second-lowest rated week of the year in total day and primetime between April 1 to April 7, according to Nielsen Media Research, while MSNBC had its second-lowest rated week of the year in the key 25-54 age demographic.
CNN finished 15th in primetime and 8th in total day, falling to Home and Garden TV (HGTV) and Nickelodeon.
Last week’s poor ratings for CNN and MSNBC indicate the networks will have a difficult time bouncing back after spending two years of heavy coverage on the investigation into the Trump campaign’s alleged collusion with the Russian government.
MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow was particularly damaged by the finding of no collusion as the majority of her broadcasts focused on the conspiracy. In the span of just one week, Maddow dropped half a million viewers after the conclusion of the Mueller probe.

I’ve had occasion to fly through the Atlanta airport twice in the past few weeks. CNN was on monitors everywhere. No one was watching.
May their ratings continue to crash and burn!
The words MADDOW and DOWN just helped me to lose another five pounds.
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch.
I hope they never recover, because people will finally realize they are nothing but a bunch of evil liars, not news reporters.

The Dems need to understand that the bedded media is their most powerful campaign tool.
When the media dies off, so do Dem votes.
The Dems ought to be very scared.
This surprises me. Barr’s letter caused us to start watching the meltdown on those two networks. It was so fun!
Their low ratings must have something to do with Russian/Trump interference?

Wonder if Fredo Cuomo is smart enough to realize how far down in the gutter his network is to have to look upwards to see Nickelodeon.
