Bret Easton Ellis targets politically correct culture, 'hysterical liberals' who hate Trump
Fox News ^ | May 01 2019 | Frank Miles

Bret Easton Ellis, noted American author, appeared on Fox News' "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on Wednesday and talked about the continued reaction of “hysterical liberals” to President Trump.

The author of "Less Than Zero," "American Psycho" and "The Rules of Attraction" said that today’s political climate has created an environment in which anyone who doesn’t “adamantly condemn” Trump with “a hysterical overreaction” is deemed colluding with the president.

“American Psycho”, besides being a REALLY SICK book, was also a slap at the booming Reagan era.

So this guy is no right wing conservative saying this.

Newest book by Elis is “White”, and it really slaps political correctness hard. He’s not a GOP guy (more of a libertarian type). But he really does lay out the negative chatter against Trump and how it’s become overly dramatic, ‘fake’, and theatrical in nature.

I don't know much about this cat, but perhaps he's not a "GOP guy" and more of a libertarian, but let's not think in terms of political party.

Let's think more in terms of culture, which as we know from Andrew Breitbart, is upstream from politics.

To win the political war, we must first win the cultural war. We must embrace those we normally may not. People like Kanye, Milo, and maybe this guy.

Forget "conservative" issues. Important, yes. But not all pervasive. Let's take back the culture first and win over the youth.

As village elders, that is our job. To protect and pass forward the culture. Is it not?

Come sit by the fire with me and tell stories. Of how the buffalo would darken the plain and the sound of them passing was like thunder.

😃

I saw that interview and was very impressed with Brett Easton. I will order his book, “White,” today because he seems to be a voice of reason and sanity in a nation on the brink of insanity, delusion, hate and lust for authoritarianism and dictatorship, obtained through threats, intimidation and, ultimately, provoked violence. Half of our government and it's bureaucracies seems to have dumped our Constitution with themselves making the law up to suit themselves. This cannot continue. As I watched dignified AG Barr yesterday patiently endure the most classless, ridiculous, hate-filled, disrespectful, degrading and slanderous, remarks against him because he did his job according to the law of the land, I realized how Baby Boomers and their children may have succeeded in destroying the awesome nation the rest of the world wants to be, in only 3 generations. I have heard folks say that, at any time, we are only one generation away from totalitarianism, because that has been the fate of most of humanity since the beginning. However, because of America's recognition and pursuit of the idea of individual freedom through it's Founding documents, she has survived until now. We shall see whether the beginning of the end is well on it's way. One thing we know from history..Those who begin the destruction are not the ones who finish it and most of the time are victims of the horror right along with those they wanted to remove.

Maybe, like a lot of other ‘Democrats’ he’s seeing the light. Remember this... Reagan wasn’t elected by Republicans, he was elected by Democrats.

Democrats feed up with the the Democratic party going too far to the left after the election of Jimmy Carter... The same thing would have happened with Obama, except Romney was a weak, non-Conservative and ineffectual candidate much like his predecessor McCain.

Since the election of Trump, the media and many Democrats have exposed themselves as the unbalanced, ultra-left, mostly socialist and antisemitic crowd that they are. The left-wing now owns that party and any candidate they put forward for President will need to reflect their thoughts, or face defeat as the Democrat nominee.... Trump will easily win the next election and especially if he doesn’t face a Republican opponent in the primary.

Like Reagan, Trump was elected because of Democrats voting for him... Not because of Republicans voting for him. And in the next election even more Democrats are going to vote for him. The Democrat party has always been Liberal, but it was Obama who pushed them towards Socialism... Hillary wasn’t a Socialist... Neither is Joe Biden and that’s why he appeals to non-Socialist Dems... But Joe isn’t going to be the nominee... He isn’t Socialist enough. They want another Obama.

Hopefully the Republican base understands that caveat. Republicans apposed to Trump need not apply.

Proggies are nothing if not drama queens.

When your belief system is based on feelings, emotions, rubber bracelets and dog whistles, you have to be a drama queen.

As to hysteria, well, there is the word’s root...

Brett Easton Ellis came out with his first book, ‘Less than Zero’ when he was only 21. To me, it was the quintessential book (along with Tom Wolfe’s Bonfire of Vanities) representative of the 80’s. He’s a little younger than me, but we are very close in age and so I’ve gotten to follow him since we were both very young. I would say he’s been the voice of my generation so to speak.

For those that have never read American Psycho or seen the movie, what’s hilarious about it is that Patrick Bateman the main character’s idol is Donald J. Trump. Keep in mind that this book was written in 1991. In the book, he is the father figure that serial killer Bateman never had. It’s an interesting story how Ellis researched the book and came up with Donald Trump as Bateman’s idol.

Ellis is a gay man and has a millennial for a boyfriend. Listening to his podcasts, his boyfriend is apparently a socialist/communist and was all broken up and still can’t get over the election of President Donald J. Trump and so that is a lot of the perspective of which Ellis is writing from. Watching his boyfriend lose his mind over Trump’s election has really opened up his mind to the current craziness of the left. If you want some really good insight on movies, how they are made and the inside baseball stuff on movies his podcast is worth listening to.

Ted Dalrymple coined the term "emotional incontinence" to describe that state.

I enjoyed your brief comment. Especially about the 3 generations.....as in the sins of the fathers visiting their children....I was in hippie generation but couldn’t buy into that idiocy...but it has poisoned our society...we are reaping its effects...
