SEATTLE — A group of student Republicans at the University of Washington hosted an "Affirmative Action Bake Sale" on Friday, advertising different prices based on customers' race and gender.
Some groups were charged reduced prices, while Asian-Americans and white customers had higher prices. Baked goods for Native Americans were free.“Affirmative action is an inherently racist policy that is now back after the Washington State Legislator passed I-1000,” read a social media post from the campus' College Republicans group, which hosted the sale. “We will be protesting this clearly racist change of law by hosting a bake sale that plainly shows the clear discrimination allowed by law now.”
On April 28, the Washington Legislature passed Initiative 1000, which overturns the voter-approved statewide ban on affirmative action. That ban, which passed in 1998 with a more than 16 percent margin of victory, banned discrimination and preferential treatment based on race, sex, color, ethnicity, national origin or age. The day after Initiative was passed this year, a group filed a referendum to put it to a public vote.
The Friday bake sale drew an angry crowd and the presence of University of Washington police to try to keep things calm.

Most universities advertise their hiring policies by stating: AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY AND AFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYER. If they are an AA employer then they are not an equal opportunity employer ipso facto.
Those student Republicans have guts. Wouldn’t it be great to have a bake sale like that at the White House — they could give Muslims twice as much for free.
Sometimes they don't limit themselves to hats.
Washington State is a nasty bigoted state.
Affirmative Action laws are confirmation by the government that Blacks are inferior to Whites and cannot possibly compete without help.
The truth will set you free...

Had a liberal friend once who was complaining about having to work hard while others made no effort to work and were getting all sorts of free government handouts. I held out my hand, and when he shook it I said, “Welcome to conservatism.”
It really pisses off liberals when the stupidity of the affirmative action policies are shown under the light of logic.
The right, including Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, made a huge mistake by not shutting down affirmative action when it had a chance. The “diversity” justification has a lot to do with today’s identity politics.
Good for them showing exactly what affirmative action really is.
They are attacked because they are exposing that without affirmative action, it would be much clearer that assimilation has completely failed.
These policies indicate very openly that our government - and the institutions that implement them (not just schools, but companies as well) believe all too clearly in racial AND gender inferiority.
It isn’t stupidity; they know we can’t just tell whole segments of our population that they’ll never catch up. Easier to go along with the illusion of assimilation; justifying affirmative action requires a corresponding llusion of oppression.
“Affirmative action” is wrong, illegal and unconstitutional. A perfect example of how the truth is hidden behind a nice-sounding name.
And after a half century and trillions of dollars of handouts, they still haven’t bridged the gap. If they haven’t made it by now, they never will.
