Looking sharp while making daily speeches does not require a large or high end wardrobe. Not at all.

$24 MM in legal fees this past year? This is getting very interesting:

Leaked Documents: NRA Racked Up $24 Million in Legal Bills
Docs show former president Oliver North warning that legal fees “pose an existential threat to the financial stability of the NRA.”

If one tenth of these allegations are true, I rescind my previous endorsement of LaPierre and call for him to resign. The NRA is too important of an organization to be compromised.

They do too much fund raising to their members. I think they use their membership dues to fund their fundraising activities.

Money corrupts everything.

How to keep social/religious/charitable organizations true to their mission, focused and uncorrupt over the long-term when many $$millions are involved??

There must be some literature on this.

Wayne LaPierre expensed $39,000 in clothes in one day,

So? Dude's gotta look good. If it's not a regular expense, I got no issue with this.

I just purchased a new Jeep Compass in one day and didn't spend that amount of money..........

I do have a major issue of $39K in clothes and being billed to the NRA............I wouldn't have a problem if he shopped for clothes at Cabela's rather than Barney's of New York.............

The NRA is just like the GOP, in that both of them have been taken over by the wrong people. A bunch of self-serving grifters. Reminds me of the jerk water “churches” with their “suede shoe “pastors!”

Oh, and his clothing allowance is $250,000 a year.

One could fly first class to London. Go to Prince Charles' tailor, buy 10 bespoke suits, stay at the Savoy, and spend much less than half that.

“I suspect they were not all for him???”

That’s what I was thinking - it said it was for an advertising thing. Show the happy family out there pheasant hunting in sharp new clothing from Cabbella’s is going to add up.

Although it sounds like they might have expensed some nice shotguns into the “clothing” account.

Just like the Girl Scouts, United Way and so many others.

The top take the money and beg for us to give more.

Member off and on for too many years to count.

At Gucci, the last and most expensive of Tom Ford's cutting-edge statements was a grey stripe with Jacquard stitching for $2,600, with made-to-measure alternatives running only 10% higher, according to a sales woman. At Dolce & Gabbana, a top-of-the-line black pinstripe went for $2,195.

Just clipped the above online. If Tom Ford can outfit the latest James Bond he can do ole 'Waynie' quite nicely. It appears the 'der Waynester' is over-billing for his suits and charging the NRA for every piece of clothing he wears all year. I mean.... just some thoughts.

A few lifetimes, I might go through that much in clothes, even accounting for inflation.

39,000 in one day is not a big deal if he bought a lot of suits at once.

From the NRA's 2016 990 form which can be seen on Guidestar.com. In 2016 LaPierre made in Reportable Compensation from the organization: $1,358,966 and other compensation of $63,373 plus expenses. He damn well ought to be able to afford his own suits, etc.

My bad.... that was an old piece of information.... Tom Ford suits run about 5 grand. Still, I don’t see why a half dozen wouldn’t be luxurious and last for years.

A very nice Brooks Brothers 3 pice suit, which is more than good enough for anyone, might be $1000. How many suits would he be buying at a time? Does he need more than 5 in a year? It is grotesquely wasteful. He is taking money donated to the NRA to defend the second amendment and vainly spending it on clothes. It is disgusting, and I’m shocked anyone would defend it. People defending individual rights and responsibilities should probably dress themselves.

I agree. I think our board has some patsies, but there’s also a lot more very serious people on the board and I trust they know more and there’s a reasonable explanation. I’ll wait for it. If his security expenses are included in the cost of X, that could be a big number, especially on the left coast.
