Good. There is hope. Trump is serious and we hope Mexico realizes that.

Mexico already got the word from Congress that they will stop Trump. They have no reason to negotiate now.

I’m wondering how many days of tariff collection would be enough to pay for the wall.

Trump cannot give Mexico an inch. It is time to play hardball.

First, the burden is now on Mexico to stop the flow of immigrants and drugs; they dragged their feet for years and the clock has run out on them. Its entirely up to them to prove to us that they are making a serious effort to help us.

Second, our other trading partners waiting for a deal are watching closely and will be incentivized not to make any concessions if we let Mexico get away with doing little or nothing. We have to push Mexico hard. Other negotiations depend on it.

Let them TASTE it first:

Just immediately hit them with the 5%.

They need to know we’re serious.

We have been SAYING it’s illegal to cross for 60 years while doing NOTHING to back it up, so we have a LOT of verbal BS inertia to overcome.

We need to help them understand with something tangible.

LATEST:

Trump's tariff threat appears to be working as 'heavily-armed' Mexican police and Marines confront the caravan of 600 -800 migrants from Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala, departed from Ciudad Hidalgo at the Mexico border on Wednesday morning and walked along a highway toward Tapachula...They were met some 11 miles short of their destination by the special unit forming a blockade on the road....The vast majority of the migrants complied with officials' orders and boarded immigration agency vehicles...Others resisted and were wrested to the ground by unarmed officers or fled to the thick forest nearby Parents sat on the pavement holding their children as the wept and begged authorities not to take them ....the 600 to 800 migrants would initially be taken to an immigration detention center in Tapachula.

The caravan departed from Ciudad Hidalgo at the Mexico-Guatemala border early Wednesday and was bound for Tapachula

Mexico deployed Wednesday a unit of 200 agents from the military, federal police and immigration agency to break up a group off about 1,000 Central American migrants that are traveling northward

A caravan of 1,000 migrants walking through southern Mexico clashed with 200 members of law enforcement dispatched by the Mexican government to stop the group

The vast majority of the migrants complied with law enforcement directives and boarded the government vehicles

A migrant is restrained by several officers

Sone were angry..others wept

Listening to Rush today and he doesn’t think Congress can stop the tariffs as Trump is doing it under National Emergency act.

According to a Fox Biz breaking this afternoon, Mexico is DEMANDING that the US pay for Economic Development in Southern Mexico, and “Marshal Plan” initiative for Honduras and Nicaruaga.

PAID FOR by the American taxpayer, of course.
Mexico was in no way serious about negotiating. Turn the screws, double the planned tarrif, and watch GM scream...

They way it stops is 2 aircraft carriers on either side of Mexico and 50,000 troops with heavy armor and attack helicopter waiting for invasion orders on the Texas border. In the meantime shut the dam border down and financially destroy them

Good. The cartels will get fed up once the 5% kicks in and at the point of a gun those Mexico City Politicians will get their collective house in order.... Personally, when the auto manufacturers return north of the DMZ we’ll all be better for it.

Trump would do well to start hammering Mexico on reciprocation for US Citizens treatment while in Mexico as a good secondary issue to really get their attention.

Maybe putting Mexico in the same boat with Cuba for ending travel for a while would fix the whole thing over night.

Quit buying stuff from Mexico ... a 25% reduction of trade will cause the government to fall. Let the importers (who have to pay cash up front before the goods are allowed in) eat them if no one buys them.

I hope I’m wrong, but these
tarriffs may provoke the cartels
into attacking American intrests
as a retaliatory action. No
illegals on the march = no $$$.
They could care less about Mexico’s
economy.

While they are talking POTUS should call the Border and tell them that Kentucky and South Dakota have plenty of room to temporarily house a few hundred thousand illegals and to send them there immediately.
