Agree on Jeh Johnson. Amazing how little emphasis the press gave some of his comments, though....
Too bad. From everything I heard about him through fellow USNA alumni, he was a good one.
It sounds like he is being pilloried for either content in the emails that indicated he thought the office had been railroaded or that the punishment was unjust (my speculation) or...and if this is the case I have an issue with it...he is simply communicating with the punished officer.
I think it is the former and not the latter, but one can never tell.

Johnson wrote the DACA and the DACA for Parents policy. He supported “Catch and Release” and did nothing to stop the huge expansion of Sanctuary Cities. Legal immigration and new Green Cards stayed above 1 million per year during his tenure. The OPT work visa program and UN Refugee admissions both doubled under Johnson.

Thank you for the detailed clarification and the excerpt from one of your past fitreps. I was writing as a retired Navy officer with a friend who was a PAO, remembering the basics of what he was involved with in CNO’s office.

Yes, at the CNO level, an officer probably would do the actual writing of the final release. But, and I'm guessing here, that PAO would be basing their content on "subject matter experts" from staff and support personnel. I used to be one of those persons, as a civilian contractor or political activist.
