Hoping to reach African-American voters nationally in his bid for the Democratic presidential nomination, Sen. Bernie Sanders on Tuesday toured the West Baltimore neighborhood where Freddie Gray was arrested — and likened the poverty he observed to that of the Third World.
The independent senator, who describes himself as a democratic socialist, walked the streets of Sandtown-Winchester for about 20 minutes, joined by community leaders and a swarm of cameras that mostly blocked his view of boarded rowhomes and crumbling marble steps. A handful of residents joined the spectacle, and occasionally broke out in chants of Gray's name.
The scene provided dramatic visuals of the economic inequality Sanders has made the center of his campaign, offering a new backdrop from which to argue for a higher minimum wage, tuition-free public college and tougher federal regulations of the nation's banking sector.

Bernie is right on this. One third of Baltimore’s high schools had 0% students proficient in math. Six other HS managed to score a 1% proficiency in math. Nine out of 10 students aren’t at reading level.
Sorry Bernie, all politics is local.
The Federal government can do nothing to solve Baltimore’s problems without first destroying Baltimore’s government

Sanders has obviously had a stroke. In the last ONE HUNDRED YEARS, there have been only four Republican mayors and the last was in office between 1963 and 1967, well over fifty years of Democrat control. Elijah Cummings has been in Congress thirteen terms.
I never drove through Eastern Maryland Baltimore/DC until recently and it was just ghetto slum or Latino colonization and deteriorated America for the most part. Google Maps needs the avoid ghetto feature.
The West Baltimore MARC station is about a 50 minute ride to Washington, DC’s Union State and DC’s jobs.
A MARC weekly ticket includes DC/Baltimore bus service.
The Maryland Democrats have provided an opportunity for West Baltimore and its residents.
In the 1970’s the City of Baltimore offered rowhouses for $1 for renovation.
Two adjacent rowhouses would provide a good amount of space.
Around 1960, NYC imposed a renovate it or sell it mandate for its Upper West Side.
The Democrat Party has destroyed Baltimore and is in
the process of trying to destroy the state of Maryland too.
They are registering illegals to vote and also underage
teenagers too when they apply for driving licenses or ID cards.
My daughter is 16 and was registered to vote
when applying for a state ID at the local motor vehicle
department. A person must be 18 to vote of course.
And a citizen of Maryland and of the USA.
I wonder who will cast her vote in 2020?

My family was in the white flight out of Dallas, TX back in the 70s when they decided it was a great idea to bus black kids to white schools and white kids to black schools. At the time, my school had one black student (A. was a great kid). While I don’t know our test scores from back then, we were one of the better schools. Today, it has 1% white students and can score barely a 25% proficiency. Thank you, liberals.
Our old house is on Zillow. The street looks ok but from the political signage, they’re rooting for a young obamy type community activist. Ugh, the remodel of the house is horrible. Someone got happy with stark white paint inside and out. They put ugly, ugly, ugly fake marble EVERYWHERE and made the kitchen small and eliminated the dining area. Weird. On a positive note, the glitter popcorn ceiling we put in is gone and my climbing tree is still there.
