Comey fires back at Meadows amid report he won't be prosecuted

Former FBI director James Comey called out Rep. Mark Meadows (R-N.C.) Thursday night after the lawmaker tweeted about him without tagging him.

Meadows tweeted about Comey’s “silence” at the release of a report from the Department of Justice inspector general (IG) over the leak of memos to a reporter approaches.

“As the IG report on Comey approaches, we’re getting the sound of silence. No Comey tweets. No softball interviews,” Meadows tweeted, neglecting to tag Comey’s account. “Must be tougher when you get questioned by a DOJ Inspector General. The truth is coming. His actions will come to light. And the verdict won’t be pretty.”

Comey quickly fired back with a tweet Thursday night, saying he is waiting “for facts before I talk about them.”

“I love transparency. I just wait for facts before I talk about them. I’m confident the results of all IG reports will show honest public servants worked hard to protect this country from a threat this president and his enablers won’t acknowledge,” Comey tweeted at Meadows, adding “And @ me next time, bruh.”

The sparring comes amid the news that Comey will not be prosecuted by the DOJ even though the inspector general referred him for possible prosecution over the leak.

The full report from the inspector general is not expected to be completed until at least next month, according to The Washington Post.

The larger report focuses on federal authorities’ investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and the Trump campaign and Comey’s role in it.

Comey was fired from his post at the FBI by Trump in May of 2017 and has been an outspoken critic of the president since.

Meadows is an avid supporter of Trump and has called for an investigation into Comey and his handling of the Russia probe.

said, "he is waiting “for facts before I talk about them."”

He is clearly afraid of something.

Comey end zone dance!

Folks he won...

Give up...

The swamp won’t lift a finger to do anything to hold him accountable.

It’s what they do.

Stop listening to conservatives...

NO ONE EXCEPT Manafort, Cohen, Stone, Papadapoulas will ever see the inside of a court room....

I’m not buying the story that “bigger” stuff is coming for Comey.

He should be prosecuted for ALL his crimes, and it’s the same old story, no consequences for these criminals. Now he’ll gloat for the rest of the campaign. Thanks, Barr.

>> It appears he sees this ending badly as well.

Unmitigated immigration invasion, post-birth abortion, mandatory LGBTQ affirmation... we’re already badly.

As a “precision shootist”, you know that patience matters.

Listening to Gorka’s America First radio program. The issue is that the memo issue is hard to prove because a memo is not classified at first. They want to nail him on a bigger easier to prove charge and not spoil their chance with a no hitter first.

You’re close.

Cardinal Comey is on the extreme end of the narcissism continuum. His hubris is such that he truly believes he is in a Special Mission. You often see the same madness in prosecutors.

Thus, the rules just don’t apply to them.

Politics is on the list of professions that attracts a high proportion of narcissists.

And, keep in mind that more than one mental disorder can exist in the same person at the same time.

We see this played out at our expense every day.

This is a lie. The memos were work product, it was a crime to take them from the FBI. Even if the memos weren’t classified secret at the time, they weren’t his to take. He broke the law. And of course they were classified at the time and he knew it. They just were not officially classified. Comey knows how classification works and what is classified material.

What I find as pure horror is that most in political office are mentally ill in one way or another

In addition to which, most appear to have low IQs along with the ability to mimic normal intelligence.

I agree, patience is our only option right now but the outlook IMO is clear. We are on the road to destruction and there is no indication that is going to change.

The people do not IMO understand the magnitude of the illegal AND legal immigration. For the last couple of weeks we have heard over and over about the plight of rat infested Baltimore. This is a city of less than a million people. At our current rate of legal and illegal immigration we are importing TWO Baltimores every year. Latest predictions is illegal immigration alone will bring in the equivalent of two Baltimores by years end.

The great majority of these people will never assimilate into our culture. They will never be "Americans" and given the chance they will always vote for socialists. So by the end of Trumps next term we will have brought in enough illegals that if allowed to vote would make for a permanent ruling class of "democrat socialist", a PC word for communist tyrants.

Patience is our only option but we must get on the road to recovery first and all indications are that is not the case at all.

This guy, Comey, better be careful with all the self-congratulations.

There is a nice warm crow waiting to be eaten by him.

No over, till it’s over, Jim.

. The memos were work product...

True, but in order to convince a jury that you can't take your own memo's somewhere , esp. in a corrupt venue like the District of Criminals, is a risk they don't have to take because they have something better coming up.

I will be very surprised if Comey is prosecuted. I hope he will be but I will be very, very surprised if he is. Ditto the other members of the coup. Including Hillary’s gang. There may be some talk or other posturing, but no prosecutions or anything even resembling prosecutions. The Elite do not prosecute the Elite. Unless they happen to be Republicans.

There is one wrinkle in the leaking case that makes it a more difficult prosecution. The memos that were leaked, while being unmistakably government property, were not classified until well after the leak, and were classified “confidential”, the very lowest level.

In addition, I do not believe that the FBI director has plenary authority on classification - I may be mistaken.

Because of these two things, prosecuting him for leaking classified material would be significantly complicated by the fact that the memos were not classified when leaked. It was unethical, but arguably (in court) would have been legal on the classification side until the memos were judged to be classified after the fact.

The “no intent” thing is fully specious - intent is not included in the law.

I hope that the FISA side of the investigations is the real underlying reason why prosecution was refused.

This is “career Democrat DOJ lawyers” putting their thumbs on the scales of justice pure and simple.

If that was the case POTUS might have chance. Unfortunately, it’s both parties working together to obstruct him and the MAGA agenda. I read yesterday Graham allowed the Dems to block his border asylum modification bill in committee for nearly two months. After POTUS had declared a “national emergency” and the need for swift reform was obvious. With Republicans like that who needs Democrats?
