I also had a look at the AK-74 magazines.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AK-74

They’re raked forward in the well but still far less curved than the AK-47. Crusius’ weapon was an AK-47, 7.62x39.

“The curve in the magazine in Crusius’ rifle has too much continuous curve to be a 5.56 magazine. It’s not a 5.56 magazine, IMO.

Yes, I saw that too. So we are left with LEO’s with an agenda to morph an AK into an AR. because the AR better fits the “awful Black Rifle meme” that LIberals, and many Cops, who want to have exclusive access to firearms, put out. The real problem will be with the “shooter” in Dayton having a 100 rd drum mag on an AR. Even “gun people” like me, can’t say that posession of such a magazine fits the SCOTUS rulings regarding guns and gun parts “in general use today.”

Agreed. But anecdotal.

But you are comparing ARs to AKs. Even AK 556 mags have a great(er) curve than an AR mag.... Post 762 and 556 AK mags side by side for comparison.

Why would an Australian kill muslims in New Zealand, to affect the USA? That was the most bizarre thing.

In his purported manifesto under the heading "Gear" he says:

Main gun: AK47 (WASR10)- I realized pretty quickly that this isn't a great choice since its the civilian version of the ak47. It's not designed to shoot rounds quickly, so it overheats massively after about 100 shots fired in quick succession. I'll have to use a heat resistant glove to get around this.

8m3 bullet: This bullet, unlike pretty much any other 7.62x39 bullet, actually fragments like a pistol hollow point when shot out of an ak47 at the cost of penetration. Penetration is still reasonable, but not nearly as high as a normal ak47 bullet. The ak47 is definitely a bad choice without this bullet design, and may still be with it.

Other gun(if I get one): Ar15 - Pretty much any variant of this gun doesn't heat up nearly as fast as AK47. The round of this gun isn't designed to fragment, but instead tumbles inside a target causing lethal wounding. This gun is probably better, but I wanted to explore different options. The ar15 is probably the best gun for military applications but this isn't a military application.

This will be a test of which is more lethal, either it's fragmentation or tumbling.

I suspect generalized media and reporting confusion between the El Paso shooter and Dayton shooter, who was reported to be using a .223 rifle.

Details aside, the mindset of the El Paso shooter, if he really did write the manifesto, is really twisted, and the manifesto seems in some way to be intended either to influence others, or be used as a talking point in gun control debates.

It’s a little odd to have a discussion about a mad shooter’s thought processes. So okay he says he is concerned about climate change and plastic waste, how does shooting dozens of people in a Walmart have anything to do with either of those causes?

We need to focus on the more salient point that mentally ill people should not have access to deadly weapons. And in a free society that is not an easy prevention to accomplish.

Because the purpose of terrorism is to affect policy through use of the media, and the anglosphere media is international in scope.

Thanks for the information in your comment #68.

Yes—very suspect on his part. He also spoke of global warming, increasing population and demands on resources.

Going hot, thanks for the correction.

Baseball shooting was when Steve Scalise got shot; I don’t remember the perp’s name.

The gunman posted a manifesto online, which El Paso Police Chief Greg Allen said “we have to attribute that manifesto directly to him.” The Associated Press explained more about the manifesto: The document posted online expressed concern that an influx of Hispanics into the United States will replace aging white voters, potentially turning Texas blue in elections and swinging the White House to the Democrats. When asked whether the shooting was a hate crime, Allen said “it’s beginning to look more solidly like that is the case.” Federal prosecutors say they’re treating the shooting as a domestic terrorism case.

Hmmmmmm. Okayyyyy. So how would this be prosecuted differently from a REGULAR murder spree?

I’m not so sure about that. I think such talk is designed to set the stage for making it easier to confiscate guns from anyone who publicly states he or she supports President Trump’s policies on such issues as illegal immigration.

Over attention to murders is a tactic used by fake news to create trauma based mind control over the masses...wizardry!
