Douglas Marshall Saxon (4 Jul 1950 13 Aug 2019) was born in Jamaica, NY to Marshall Saxon and Jacklyn Smith. He grew up mostly in and around Florida, living in Miami, Coral Gables and Hialeah.
At 19 he volunteered for the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam (68-69) with the 1st Armored Cavalry Division, where he was a medic and tank driver.
After his stint in the Army he traveled around the U.S., eventually ending up in Los Angeles, CA where he met and married the love of his life and had one daughter.
Throughout his life his interests were very diverse. He had a great love for the classics, Shakespeare, Emily Dickinson, The Three Stooges and TV Westerns. He enjoyed travel and we made many memories traveling together especially on our trip to Vietnam in 2000. He was very knowledgeable about classical music, even joining the Euterpe Opera Company in the early eighties and performing in Bizets Carmen on stage at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. FreeRepublic.com was his favorite place on the internet, and he was a huge Dennis Prager fan.
He worked for several years as a production accountant for Embassy Television, Columbia Pictures and the Carsey-Werner Company.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, his daughter and son-in law, his very beloved and cherished grand-daughter and his best friend of several decades.
I know he had many lively discussions with a lot of you over the years, so I couldnt think of a better place to put up his obit.
Thanks for everything, Jim. Would you please add my dad to the memorial wall?
