Days after considering the implementation of universal background checks, President Donald Trump has sidelined the issue.
Three days after a pair of mass shootings in Ohio and Texas that left 31 people dead, President Donald Trump was preoccupied with visions of a Rose Garden ceremony.
His daughter and senior adviser, Ivanka Trump, had proposed the idea of a televised Rose Garden appearance as a way to nudge her father toward supporting universal background checks. The president had recently suggested he was open to the gun-control measure, tweeting, “Republicans and Democrats must come together and get strong background checks, perhaps marrying this legislation with desperately needed immigration reform.” To be sure, this was similar to how he’d responded to other mass shootings during his 31-month presidency, and each time, the push for action fizzled. But the prospect of a Rose Garden ceremony, his daughter thought, where Trump could sign a document and call it “historic” and “unprecedented”—and receive positive media attention—might be the best chance of yielding real change.

I hope he does not become more gun-control friendly after his re-election in 2020.
He also sidelined Red Flag laws.
Give the man some room to do what he does best.
The question remains, will any of these reforms have prevented the so called mass shootings and the daily murders in dem run cities like Chicago and Baltimore.

Pretty sure Ivanka’s bold new action would produce results. She would probably just proclaim they were not the results she intended, like they always do.
The headline presupposes he needed some influencing. I didn’t think that’s true and im not buying their garbage.
The main component of this issue is the mental health area. Something they will never do anything about.
In virtually every case, the shooter displayed behavior that should have brought intervention in one form or another. Multiple agencies failed to do their jobs repeatedly. Schools, police, municipalities, medical services.
The left just wants this issue as a vehicle for further gun control. They have no interest in anything else regarding it.
It wasn’t just the NRA that let him know that universal galactic background checks would cause him to lose.
The American citizens do not want the government to know where every firearm is, that was the point of outlawing private sales, to develop a backdoor registry.
It must really chap the Dems and Marxists’ (but I repeat myself) hide, that any lobbying organization or pressure group, other than their own pet Red Guards / Hitlerjugend ,like Klantifa, are allowed any influence on the decisions of politicians.
I’m wondering if these repeated leaks about Trump’s contacts with the NRA might be coming from Ivanka.
Why is there NEVER any (eg) Pelosi Decides To Give Planned Parenthood 6 Billion Dollars More After Calling (Whoever) or Unions Get More Money After Schumer Calls The Head of the AFL-CIO?
