Joe Arpaio announced Sunday night that he plans to run for sheriff of Maricopa County in 2020 after losing his most recent reelection bid. Arpaio served as the countys sheriff for 1993 until 2016, with his 24 years in office making him the longest-serving sheriff in the countys history.
"The last four years have proven to be a time of lost opportunities to continue the kind of tough policing this county needs," Arpaio wrote in a statement posted on Twitter. "Once back in office, I will use my position to restore pride to our law enforcement ranks, not only here, in the fourth-largest county in America, but across the country."

Hes had his time. How old is he by now anyway?
Good Lord Joe! Give it up and enjoy your retirement.
You did your bit.
Be wary of a man in power who never grooms a successor or team of potential successors. At some point, that person decided they were more important than the role they play
Joe is now 87.
Joe Arpaio is setting himself up to run for President in 2024.
Look out for the Joe Arpaio-Bob Dole ticket to take the White House.
He helped screw up the Senate Race and helped the RATS.
His time is past done.
Go home Joe, you've done your part. Take your cushy pension, enjoy your grandkids, your nice home and, if you have so much energy, some of those nice Scottsdale golf courses.
Or has yet to find a suitable successor.
He has bad breath.
If he wins,it is because the citizens want him. He has every right to run.
Hey, not going to disagree much with the points which will be made on this thread, probably to do mostly with age. However, if it came down to what we have now, and Joe, it would be foolish not to take Joe. Not sure how, but he does have a bit of spark left.
As well, at the end of the day, he was truly targeted for takedown by the left. There was enough junk being dumped on him, and a universal left wing media war against him, that almost no one would have survived it.
If he really were to need to step aside, I would hope the gov then pics someone pretty far to the right of what we now have, which shouldn’t be real hard.

True enough and win or lose he’ll drop a little money into the economy.......
Our problem is that we do not bother to do the next “man” up. Our side is dying on the vine. It’s not like we do not have really good young voices and intellect who will get things done who base themselves on conservative principles and law and order.
Super Bowl XXX was the first major sports event that didnt have riots. Sheriff Joe warned the attendees that they would reside in tent city and wear pink underwear if they created trouble.
You know with the anger over illegal immigration people are FED UP he just might win!!!
I only want to be doing one thing when Im 87, ok two things; whittling on my front porch and yelling at neighborhood kids to get off my lawn.
If the people down there weren’t fed up five years ago there’s something wrong with them. How could they live in a state overrun with illegals.
They managed to get rid of Joe - they should suffer the consequences.
