Trump says Chinese demand after 'greatest deal ever made' may overwhelm US farmers
Fox Business News ^ | October 12, 2019 | Megan Henney

President Trump lauded the partial trade agreement he struck with China this week, calling it the “greatest and best” deal in a tweet Saturday morning.

As part of the deal -- which Trump and President Xi Jinping could sign as soon as next month -- China agreed to raise its agricultural purchases to between $40 billion and $50 billion from $8 billion to $16 billion and to make certain reforms on intellectual property and financial services. The U.S. will not raise tariffs on Oct. 15 from 25 percent to 30 percent.

It’s still unclear whether Trump plans to halt another round of tariffs that are set to take effect on Dec. 15.

“The deal I just made with China is, by far, the greatest and biggest deal ever made for our Great Patriot Farmers in the history of our Country,” he wrote. “In fact, there is a question as to whether or not this much product can be produced? Our farmers will figure it out. Thank you China!”

We had a President let China buy Smithfield. The Smithfield brand was the Cadillac of pork. GW Bush and Obozzo were both TRASH.

China even pulled pork out of their reserve to try and appease their people. Even some of the reserve was from the US.

So what will this do to prices for the American consumer?

Can you say UP UP UP and UP!

Ever since the chicoms started importing US goods the price of everything has sky rocketed, fertilizers, chemicals, paint, food, meal, wood, finished products, you name it. Free trade has been an utter disaster for consumers. Great for Wall Street, farmers, manufacturers, everybody but consumers. They pay the price.

Of course it will drive up the cost of groceries. Perhaps the tariffs that China pays on their exports will somehow be doled out to the farmers?? But I doubt it.

Maybe now that the farmers will (should have?) an increase in demand from China to raise their prices, Trump could get rid of ethanol to help bring food prices down.

OK, let’s believe in wishful thinking.

So it’s not Trump’s tariff hiking, negotiation/bargaining skill but an unexpected outbreak of swine flu that helps him get the deal.

So the tariff war doesn’t work.
Trump is lucky, an unexpected swine flu gives him a big favor.

Is the deal trustworthy?

The tariff war does work. The tariffs were used to subsidize the farmers. The pork problem has been going on for quite a while.

Is the deal trustworthy? It beats no deal.

Great Patriot Farmers

True dat but the family farms are being bought out by big corp. Same with range land for cattle.
