Big changes to grueling Special Forces course draw scrutiny
The Star ^ | 10/13/19 | Lolita C. Baldor - The Associated Press

Deep in the dark North Carolina woods, a small white light flickers in the heavy underbrush. It’s after midnight and a soldier is taking a risk by turning on his headlamp to find his way.

DoD has been caving to Congressional threats to their budgets for decades.

Yep.

"...In a lengthy and anonymous 2017 email, a Green Beret instructor argued that “career-focused leaders” have eroded standards in the qualification course in order to meet graduation quotas. The email charged that allowing women to compete for special operations jobs was also responsible because commanders want to “markedly lower the standards enough to ensure that any woman attempting this path will have absolutely no issue achieving it...”

I have no doubt that is at the root of it.

The military’s comfort level with the progressive agenda is disturbing. It seems the left’s Long March through our institutions is nearly complete

“Politically correct” is a disaster. Females make fine soldiers, but their body mass and strength isn’t anywhere close to males when it comes to carrying heavy loads. It isn’t debateable.

They have a role to play in the military, but this notion that people are interchangeable meatsticks is extremely stupid. Putting 18-28 year old men and women together in close quarters is also pretty stupid. We really are “led” by idiots. They cause more trouble than can be believed.

In fact, several instructors associated with the email posting ended up facing discipline or getting forced out

This is all obama’s doing. Early in his presidency he began to undermine the integrity of our Armed Forces and the SpecOps folks were in the cross-hairs as well.

He sent out a questionnaire to everyone 0-6 and above and not long after the answers were received and analyzed the Great Purge began.

This was reported on by alternative media, conservative talkers and the like but, got no MSM attention at all.

And, of course, as intended it has faded from the memories of the few who were discussing it at the time.

The generals and admirals President Trump is dealing with are the ones that survived the Great Purge.

I agree with those that say armies have a tendency to train for the last war that was fought. The evolution of weaponry and capabilities require those new weapons and capabilities to be tested in simulation in any way possible, and then in force on force exercises.

Insights gained should be added to current doctrine. Hopefully, this will make up the gap between the last war and the next war.

This should apply to special forces as well as conventional forces. Adapting to setting would give some lesson learned.

I have been banging that drum for years, but the past several administrations are hell bent on making it a jobs program.

We will pay for this in blood. And it won’t be the blood of the POS politicians who will have feathered their nests and be far away when it goes down.

We'll be paying for this with rivers of blood if we survive at all.

I was never an SF troop, but as a woodsman I can see why turning on a light would be a fail. For things to be green they need sun light. The thickest of undergrowth concentrations allow light to get to the most hidden spots. Where I am going with this, is a tiny white light will find it’s way to be seen by the enemy from a considerable distance.

But in the interest of fairness, not all of us navigate through thick brush without a light. So I think young ladies and trannies going through the course should be allowed to have a high intensity light mounted on their helmets with a male or trannie’d male soldier carrying her/it’s battery. To not do so would be sexist and racist and whatever name the left can come up with to shame white supremacists.

Nope. This is bipartisan. Clinton started it. W. refused to roll back the PC rot and then the kenyan went to the max.

First clue that it's BS (other than the fact it's the Ass Press) is "White light".

I've been retired for 27 years and still have, and occasionally use, red filters for my flashlights.

If you look at the dilution and weakening of the armed forces as deliberate, then it isn’t idiotic, it’s intentional.

“....red filters for my flashlights.”

Wondered about that. Been retired (active) for 24 years, myself. Did my jungle training in northern Florida,
Eglin, and we never took off the filter and used it as little as possible. I, also, noticed that the soldier running and trying to read a compass is a little interesting, also. That’s not how you use one. I’m beginning to wonder how much of this is staged.

That whole thread is worth reviewing.
