Source to Fox's Chris Wallace : 'Chance' Senate GOP Votes to Impeach

There is a 20% chance Senate Republicans would be inclined to vote to impeach and remove President Donald Trump, a Republican source told "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace.

Wallace told White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney during an interview Sunday that there seems to be some Republicans who, "if not breaking with the president – distancing themselves from the president."

"I talked to a very well-connected Republican in Washington this week," Wallace added.

"Somebody whose name you would know well, who says, that 'if the House votes to impeach and it gets to a trial in the Senate, there is now a 20% chance,' he believes – obviously it's just an estimate – now a 20% chance enough Republicans will vote with the Democrats to remove the president."

Mulvaney called the speculation "absurd."

"This comment about a 20% chance this person clearly doesn't know what they're talking about," Mulvaney said.

Mulvaney pointed to President Trump's unpopular move with Republicans on a troop withdrawal in Syria, suggesting they might bend on support for the president but they will not break because "eventually they have to go back home" to their Trump-supporting districts.

Fox News' Wallace has been famously anti-Trump, slamming his colleagues for supporting the president of the United States and reportedly attacking and mocking the president in private.

If that happens, it’s the end of the Republican party.

You’re right... Every campaign Murphy consulted with went nowhere. This schmuck made $15 million getting hapless Jeb 2.73%.

did you ever have a sub teacher for a day or 2 and she didn’t do things like the teach did and students told her “we don’t do it that way”... and the sub didn’t like the kids correcting her actions.

Donald Trump does everything different than the old stale stuck establishment, and the old establishment finds every action and word unacceptable to their stuck up ways.

the house is committing harry carry and breaking every rule.. to remove a man whose only sin is to be the best miracle to come our way .

it stinks!!

Have you ever met any of your state’s GOP party apparatchiks?

If yours are anything like ours, they are unipartying Never Trump types who are loyal only to bureaucracy.

Conservatives need to find their own candidates to run. They also need to find DINOs to run in ‘Rat primaries.

Ref your earlier analysis and speculation post on this subject. Another GOPe beltway swamp balloon float. Do you really trust the GOP Senate? I know that I don’t.

Actually, in the election after Watergate, Ford lost by a narrow margin. It was by no means a slaughter.

Ford may have nearly held on but the down ballot races were a slaughter. I remember election night (I was in college). Just about every Republican in the state of Colorado lost. In those days we were still a mostly red state with a few exceptions.

1974 US Elections (Wikipedia)

United States Senate

Main article: 1974 United States Senate elections

The Democrats made a net gain of four Senate seats from the Republicans. Democrat John A. Durkin won a special election in New Hampshire after the Senate voided the original contested election. After the special election, Democrats possessed 60 seats to 38 for the Republicans, with one independent who caucused with the Democrats and one Conservative who caucused with the Republicans.

United States House of Representatives

Main article: 1974 United States House of Representatives elections

The Democrats won the nationwide popular vote for the House of Representatives by a margin of 16.8 points.[1] This translated to a net gain of 49 seats from the Republicans, increasing the party's majority above the two-thirds mark.

Many of the newly elected Democrats in the House and Senate were liberal northerners (known as Watergate Babies), and the influx of liberals moved power away from the conservative southern Democrats who held most committee chairs in both houses.[2]

So these senators would vote to remove Trump before they’ve seen a shred of evidence? 🤣

If President Trump is removed I will never vote again. The GOP will be dead to me. I think a lot of other conservatives will feel the same way. I’m sick of limp waisted GOP senators who have worked against instead of supporting President Trump.

But I believe the vote is much closer than we’d like to think.

All it would take to unseat Mitch is 3 or 4 #NeverFreepers to do a Jeffords Jump and you can bet they are holding that over Mitch's head as bargaining chip. All those traitors making deals as we speak. We have one that is leaving who could easily jump then there is Mitt, part of the ten who outright voted against The President last week. They are politicians after all, so what do we expect?

Wonder if some autists are combing Delicto Pierre’s Twitter account looking for good stuff.

He’s in Utah, which is essentially mobbed up. It may not matter.

the public would see what has been going on and that would sink the whole operation.

I wouldn't count on the public seeing any of it. Freepers would know but 99% of the people never heard of FreeRepulic, they only know what is on the 5:00 O'Clock news.

Romney for sure and probably Lee as he looks like he’s under Romney’s thumb and those of the Mormon Mafia. Lee changed and went to the dark side starting with Romney’s election to the US Senate.

And now we find Romney was/is deep into the Ukraine corruption.

But there must be at least 20 GOP US Senators (assuming all Dems and B Sanders vote to convict) that will vote to convict and remove Trump.

Not going to happen.

The Trump campaign ‘secured the Senate’ in 2018. That doesn’t mean every US GOP Senator is in the Trump camp, but it does mean there are more than needed to stop the coup. And this is a coup and was foreseen from the beginning.
